The ruling system of Guo and Ye,the implementation of the system of enfeoffment of the Western Zhou Dynasty,is the systematic and spatial background of the Book of Songs.Guo refers to the region within the capital of a nation. It is the center of both public administration and culture.People at that time attached great importance to governing a nation so that there are quite a number of poems which takes Guo as the background.Taking as holly places, temples are quite common in Guo.The descriptions of temples in the Book of Songs either intends to show the prominence of the person,or tries to tell the holiness of the fact.Imperial palaces are described to be full of ceremonies and courtesy, while inhabitance of common people is described as holy places of happiness.Ye in the Book of Songs is quite obscure, refers to either wild spaces beyond the suburb,or including the suburb. It is open the place of hunting or encountering, with an implied sorrow or sad feeling of servants and those who departs.
