Wood rotting fungi are important components in constituting fungal diversity. They have unique effects on human life and the natural ecological system. The conservation of wood rotting fungi should attract much attention when they are widely exploited for human benefits. Two methods are employed to conserve fungal diversity. They are in-situ conservation that is mainly involved in environmental protection and ex-situ conservation that is mainly involved in species preservation and artificial naturalization. Though we have had achievements in ex situ conservation of wood rotting fungi in Changbai Mountains, we still lack the experience in their in situ conservation.
