Objective To explore the relationship between the anxiety state of the parents while PICU patients were in hospital and the parents＇ coping mode. Methods Zung＇s self-rating anxiety scale and coping mode scale were used to investigate the parents of 72 inpatient children. Results The anxiety level of PICU patients＇ parents was higher than the China norm （P〈0.05, P〈0. 01）; The parents of PICU patients often took active coping modes （P〈.001）; The father took passive coping modes much less than the mother （P〈0.05）; There was a positive correlation between the passive coping mode and the anxiety （P〈0.01）. Conclusion The parents of PICU patients have anxiety emotion. They often take an active coping mode, which helps to relax their anxiety emotion.
