Based on the modular organism population theory and on its two levels was analyzed the population density of young Bashania fangiona after natural regeneration in the Giant panda's habitat of Wolong Nature Reserve.The result showed that the genet population density of B.fangiana was 25.1 genet/m2 on average,and the population density of next year of the dead bamboos after flowering in 1983 was smaller than that of the third year's.AS the period for being dead after flowering extended,the population density. reduced.The clonal population density of B. fangiana was 94.4 cumls/m2,and the ordination of different ages was as follows:three-year bamboos>four-year ones>five-year ones>two-year ones>one-year ones>six-year ones>seven-year ones>eight-year ones>nine-year ones>ten-year ones, and meanwhile a discussion was carried on the effect of different vegetation types and altitudes on the genet and clonal populati ondensity of B. fangiana. The genet and clonal population densities are as follows: Abies faxoniana-B. fangiana forest>Tusga chinensis+Betula utilis-B.fangiana forest>T.chinensis+B.albosinensis-B.fangiana forest.The natural regeneration of young B.fangiana bamboos increased with the altitude,although the change in each gradient was comparatively small.The population densitiesin different ages presented variable curves similar to vegetation classification types.
