Based on the analytical and experimental results, the equivalent ductility damage criteria are proposed in this paper. The low-cycle fatigue characteristics of structures are studied. The criteria also integrate first passage failure with cumulative damage failure and it is simple and explicit. In addition, it is related to the ductility which engineers have been familiar with. So it is convenient for application in practice. By using of the substructure method, the failure tests of three R/C columns for which the displacement response curves are obtained from three kinds of earthquake excitation are carried out to verify the criteria.
