Study of the seasonal change in terrestrial net primary productivity （NPP） and its relationship with climate helps to understand the responses of Guizhou terrestrial ecosystem to global climate change and is important to carbon cycle research. In this study, time series dataset of Guizhou terrestrial NPP from Global Production Efficiency Model （GLO-PEM model） and corresponding information on climate were used to explore the seasonal trends of terrestrial NPP in Guizhou from 1981 to 2000. Seasonal NPP in Guizhou was found to show a significant increase in spring and autumn and a significant decline in summer and winter during the period of the 20 years studied. Spring NPP had the largest increase rate, while summer NPP had the largest decline rate. The largest increase in summer NPP occurred mostly in regions located in southern Guizhou, while the regions with the largest decrease in summer NPP were mainly located in northeastern Guizhou.
