Objective To investigate the effect of comprehensive mental nursing in patients with Parkinson disease. Methods 54 patients with Parkinson disease admitted from September 2007 to October 2009 were randomly divided into conventional mental nursing group and comprehensive mental nursing group（27 each）. Psychological conditions and the quality of life in both groups were analyzed by HAMD, NHP, and LSIZ before and 6 months after mental nursing. Results Before mental nursing, there were no significant differences of HAMD scores between the two groups（P 〉0. 05）, but after mental nursing, they decreased significantly in both groups（ P 〈 0. 05 ）, and in comprehensive mental nursing group HAMD score was significantly than that in the conventional mental nursing group（P 〈 0. 05）. Improvement rate of depression symptoms in comprehensive mental nursing group was significantly higher than that in the conventional mental nursing group （P 〈 0. 05）. After mental nursing, the scores of energy, emotional reaction, sleeping, physical activity, family relationships and social life in both groups were significantly higher than that before mental nursing（ P 〈 0. 05 ）, and there were also significant differences in all the scores between the two groups （P 〈 0. 05）. Conclusion Comprehensive mental nursing can improve the psychological conditions in patients with Parkinson disease.
