The microstructure and pavement properties of vulcanized rubber powder and devulcanized rubber powder modified asphalts were analyzed and compared. Similarities and differences exhibited in the process of vulcanized rubber powder and devulcanized rubber powder modified asphalts and the reasons were studied. The results showed that the pavement properties were improved with the adding of both vulcanized rubber powder and devulcanized rubber powder. Compared with the vulcanized rubber powder in the same size, devulcanized rubber power had a rougher surface, lower crosslink density, greater polarity, and better compatibility and stability with asphalt. Vulcanized rubber powder modified asphalt had better high temperature stability and devulcanized rubber powder modified asphalthas better low temperature ductility in appropriate adding amount of rubber powder. Interracial interaction and the form of powder network structures had a significant impact on the pavement properties of modified asphalt.
