Four provenances of Sapindus mukorossi seeds from Qingliu, Nanping, and Youxi Counties of Fujian Province and Jiu- jiang County of Jiangxi Province were used as the experimental materials in this study. Data on seed morphology, seed quality, and seed oil content were collected and seedlings growth were compared. The results showed that the seed length, 100 grain weight, and germination rate of S.mukorossi seeds from Qingliu provenance were significantly higher than those from the other three provenances. The best extraction solvent of S. mukorossi seed oil was anhydrous ethanol; the highest oil extraction rate of 44.85% was obtained from the S. mukorossi seeds of Qingliu provenance, which was also significantly higher than the oil extraction rates from the other three provenances. Relatively slower growth was observed on one-year old seedlings of Jiujiang provenance in comparison to the seed- lings of the other three provenances. Therefore, the S. mukorossi seeds of Qingliu provenance was recommended as the elite prove- nance in Southern China.
