In order to estimate the environmental impact of fugitive emissions of VOCs during the excavation of ex-situ remediation of organic contaminated sites, the fugitive emissions of VOCs during the excavation were analyzed in this paper. It calculated the concentration of VOCs in soil gas by ASTM three-phase equilibrium model, and estimated the environmental impact of the organic pollutants during the excavating process. It was concluded that the soil gas concentration can be calculated by the three-phase equilibrium model to estimate the intensity of fugitive emissions of VOCs during the excavation process. According to the distribution of sensitive spots around the contaminated sites, the control measures should be strengthened, and the excavation can be reasonably arranged by simulations. The impact of fugitive VOCs during the excavation process will be reduced within the controllable range.
