Objective To investigate the risk factors for catheterization-related complications in cancer patients receiving chemotherapy undergoing peripherally inserted central catheter（ PICC）. Methods A retrospective analysis of clinical data from 318 cancer patients undergoing PICC was conducted at Qingdao Municipal Hospital from March 2016 to March 2017. The incidence of catheterization-related complications was recorded. Using single factor and multi factor Logistic regression analysis, risk factors for catheterization-related complications were analyzed. Results Among the 318 patients, the incidence of catheterization-related complications was 19. 5% and most were catheter-related infection. Single factor analysis showed that age, diabetes mellitus, immune function, catheter type, history of thrombosis, the number of catheter lumen and catheter indwelling time had an influence on PICC catheterization-related complications（ all P〈0. 05）. The multivariate analysis showed that the immune function, age, catheter indwelling time and catheterization mode were risk factors for catheterization-related complications（ all P〈0. 05）.Conclusion Low immune function, age, catheter indwelling time and blind indwelling are independent risk factors for catheterization-related complications in cancer patients receiving chemotherapy undergoing PICC.
