The double-factor completely random design and the variety of mung bean Jinlüdou 8 were used in the experiment to study the effects of film mulching modes on leaf area index（LAI）, relative chlorophyll content（SPAD）, photosynthetic rate（Pn）, yield and its components of mung bean in arid land. The results showed that during the whole growing period of mung bean, along with the density increased, the SPAD, LAI, Pn increased, but transpiration rate（Tr） decreased. Compared with film dibble and traditional planting, the pattern of film side dibble made the SPAD increased by 4.15% and 9.40%, and LAI increased by 13.1% and 24.5%. During the whole growing period, Pn increased by 10.15% and 9.93%,and Tr increased by 7.5% and 11.2%. From branching stage to the beginning of maturity,water use efficiency in leaf（LWUE） was increased by 3.98% and 4.73%.Compared with traditional planting, the plastic film mulching could increase mung bean plant height, branch number, number of pods per plant. With the increase of population density, the number of pods per plant and yields were increased significantly. Grain yield of film side dibble and lateral film dibbling were increased by 24.2% and 19.9% respectively. Among them, the pattern of film side dibble（population density 165 000 plants/hm~2） was favorable for improving yield of mung bean in arid land.
