A modified variable-step hill-climbing search algorithm was proposed for the maximum power tracking in wind power system. The system was evaluated by simulations in MATLAB/Simulink, The simulation results were verified by experiment. The results show that with the algorithm, the system can track the maximum power point quick-ly and smoothly. The system also has ability to adapt to climate change, especially the change of the speed of wind.
