This paper studied the structure and properties of gas phase polymerized speciality resin, grade F 1002, of biaxial oriented polypropylene (BOPP) resin used for cigarette packing film. The results show that the speciality resin possesses characteristic molecular weight and its distribution, which comprises fractions with high molecular weight and fractions with low molecular weight in appropriate amount, thereby the higher melt strength and flow stability is acquired in the fdm forming process under the condition of biaxial stretching. The BOPP film so prepared exhibits an outstanding homogeneity in thickness. The speciality resin having the proper isotactic degree (96.5% - 97.5%) and the feature of isotactic sequence distribution endows the BOPP film with high stiffness, which satisfies the requirement in performance of cigarette packing film.
