Self-propagating high-temperature synthesis(SHS)was used to fabricate a Fe(Cr)–Al2O3 nanocomposite.The composite was fabricated by the reactions between the powders of Fe,Fe2O3,Cr2O3,and Al.The effect of blending ratio and mechanical activation of the initial powders and the precursor compressing pressure on the microstructure of the final product was studied by optical microscopy,scanning electron microscopy,transmission electron microscopy,and X-ray diffraction.The significance of the effect of each of the aforementioned parameters on the quality of the composite(assessed by measuring the compressive strength and wear resistance)was determined using a full-factorial design of experiments method.The results showed that the best molar powder ratio that produced the most homogeneous product through a sustainable SHS reaction was Fe:Fe2O3:Cr2O3:Al=10:1:1:4.A lower Fe content caused the Fe(Cr)phase to melt and separate from the rest of the materials. 展开更多

Influence of Si Content on Properties of Ti1-xSixN Coatings

To investigate the evolution of microstructure and wear behavior of TiSiN coatings with the variation of Si in targets and lays the foundation for its controllable mass production, Ti1-xSixN composite coatings were deposited onto Si(100) and cemented carbide substrates using TiSi targets with different Si content by cathodic arc ion plating. The influences of Si on the microstructure and mechanical properties were studied. Nano-amorphous composite structure appeared in the Ti1-xSixN coatings when Si content in TiSi target was higher than 5 at%. However, further increase of Si content in TiSi target exhibited a negligible effect on the microstructure of Ti1-xSixN coatings. Hardness and deformation resistance were correlated to the content of Si in TiSi targets. Maximum hardness was obtained as the Si content in target increased up to 20 at%. Friction coefficient and wear rate significantly decreased with addition of Si in TiN coating, and then dually increased with the increase of Si content in targets. 展开更多

A simple method using a water soluble lignin quaternary ammonium salt (LQAS) and TiO2 has been developed for the preparation of lignin/TiO2 nanocomposites in an aqueous medium under mild conditions. The LQAS/TiO2 nanocomposites contain well-dispersed small particles with excellent ultraviolet (UV) shielding abilities and good compatibilities with waterborne polyurethane (WPU). When the LQAS/TiO2 nanocomposites were blended with WPU, the UV absorbance and the tensile ductility of the WPU increased significantly. The composite WPU hybrid film containing 6 wt-% LQAS/TiO2 nanocomposite had the highest visible light transmittance and had excellent ultraviolet aging properties. After 192 h of UV light irradiation, the tensile strength of the composite film was above 8 MPa and the elongation at break was 800%. This work highlights new possibilities for the utilization of alkali lignin. 展开更多

In this work, the MoS2 fillers were prepared through chemical exfoliation method and used as fillers to fabricate epoxy (EP)/MoS2 nanocomposites. The effects of molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) intercalation conditions on the properties of EP/MoS2 nanocomposites were investigated. As the intercalation time was prolonged, the surface of MoS2 exhibited a totally crumpled structure and more functional groups formed. Because of the higher functional group concentration, the interfacial adhesion force between EP and MoS2 was enhanced. With the addition of 1.0 wt% exfoliated MoS2 fillers, the tensile strength and tensile modulus of EP were even improved ~500% and ~6800%, respectively. Therefore, this work provides a facile way to produce high-performance EP nanocomposites. 展开更多

A biomolecule-free photoelectrochemical(PEC) probe(denoted as Ru-1) was designed, synthesized and coupled with TiO2 nanoparticles(NPs) for the highly sensitive and selective PEC detection of Hg^2+, a model analyte with hypertoxicity to both human health and ecosystem. The probe Ru-1 was designed with Ru(Ⅱ) bipyridyl complex as the chromophore, thiocyanate ligand as the recognition unit, and carboxylate group as the linkage site to connect Ru-1 to TiO2 nanoparticles. Under irradiation, Ru-1 shows strong affinity to TiO2 and good photophysical properties of strong visible light absorption, slow electron-hole(e-h^+) recombination, and fast photoelectron injection to TiO2 nanoparticles via the bridge of 4-(2,2-bipyridin)-4-yl-thiophene moiety. However, the specific coordination of Hg^2+ with Ru-1 via the thiol moiety in the thiocyanate enlarges the band gap of tlie complex and reduces the photocurrent significantly. The synergistic interaction between TiO2 nanoparticles and the Ru-1 complex led to a selective PEC sensing strategy for Hg^2+ detection. Detectable linear ranges from 10^-12 g/mL to 10^-7 g/mL and from 10^-7g/mL to 10^-3 g/mL were obtained without the interference from possibly co-existed metal ions. The good analytical performances indicate the chemical probe based biomolecule-free PEC platform may offer a new route for the detection of biologically and environmentally important small molecules. 展开更多

This paper describes an investigation of the effect of ZrO2 nanoparticles on the abrasive properties,crystalline texture developments,and tribocorrosion behavior of Ni-P nanostructured coatings.In the investigation,Ni-P and Ni-P-ZrO2 nanostructured coatings are deposited on St52 steel via the electroless method.Transmission electron microscopy(TEM),field emission scanning electron microscopy(FE-SEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD),energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS),cyclic-static polarization tests in 3.5wt%NaCl solution,the tribocorrosion test(by back-and-forth wear in electrochemical cell),and the microhardness test using the Vickers method were performed to characterize and analyze the deposited coatings.The results of this study showed that the addition of ZrO2 nanoparticles to the Ni-P electroless bath produced the following:a sharp increase in wear and hardness resistance,the change of the wear mechanism from sheet to adhesive mode,the reduction of pitting corrosion resistance,significant reduction in the tribocorrosion protective properties,change in the preferred orientation of the crystalline texture coating from(111)to(200),increase in the sedimentation rate during the deposit process,and a sharp increase in the thickness of the Ni-P nanostructured coatings. 展开更多

以过硫酸铵(APS)为引发剂,N,N,N,N﹣四甲基二乙胺(TEMED)为促进剂,N,N’﹣二丙烯酰胺(NMBA)作为交联剂,通过改变丙烯酸(AA)分子的比例(0.1~0.4 mol/mol SA)制备了SA/PAA凝胶;通过溶胶凝胶法添加纳米二氧化硅颗粒复合增强增韧,甘油作为... 以过硫酸铵(APS)为引发剂,N,N,N,N﹣四甲基二乙胺(TEMED)为促进剂,N,N’﹣二丙烯酰胺(NMBA)作为交联剂,通过改变丙烯酸(AA)分子的比例(0.1~0.4 mol/mol SA)制备了SA/PAA凝胶;通过溶胶凝胶法添加纳米二氧化硅颗粒复合增强增韧,甘油作为增塑剂,最后通过钙离子交联,制备海藻酸钠/聚丙烯酸/纳米二氧化硅复合膜。通过改变单体(AA)的含量,以及纳米二氧化硅的含量,考察了复合膜的力学性能、溶胀度以及热力学性能。同时,利用红外光谱(FTIR)、X﹣射线衍射光谱(XRD)、断面扫描电镜(SEM)、透射电镜(TEM)对复合膜的结构进行了研究。XRD表明,与PAA复合及添加纳米SiO2后,海藻酸钠的峰强度下降,其复合体系为无定型结构。与纯海藻酸钠膜相比,复合膜的最大抗张强度和最高断裂伸长率分别提高了126.7%和97.1%。FTIR结果表明,SA/PAA/SiO2复合膜出现了新的Si﹣O﹣C的吸收峰。SEM照片显示,纳米二氧化硅与SA/PAA体系具有很好的相容性。 展开更多

Nanocomposite of Co3O4 and multiwalled carbon nanotube (MCNT) was synthesised using one step solvothermal method, and an electrochemical non-enzymatic glucose sensor (Co3O4-MCNT/GCE) was successfully constructed by a dropping method. The obtained Co3O4 and Co3O4- MCNT were characterized and investigated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). Quantitative analysis of glucose was performed using the amperometric (i–t) method, and plot of current difference versus concentration of glucose was linear in the range of 1.0–122μmol/L, with a linear correlation coefficient (R^2) of 0.9983 and limit of detection (LOD) of 0.28μmol/L. Sensitivity of this sensor was evaluated as 2550μA L mmol^-1 cm^-2. This new sensor produced satisfactory reproducibility and stability and was applied to monitor trace amounts of glucose in human serum samples. 展开更多

Using dextran as both reductant and stabilizing agent, nanopetals(ZnO-Au NPs) were easily synthesized and possessed a petal-like morphology. The feature structure and size of such ZnO-Au NPs were adjustable by regulating the amount of chloroauric acid(HAuCl4). Moreover, the electrochemical property of the obtained NPs was evaluated by being immobilized on the glassy carbon electrode(GCE), which performed both high sensitivity and stability in dopamine(DA) determinations. Furthermore, the as-prepared ZnO-Au NPs could also detect DA and uric acid(UA) simultaneously in the mixture without interference, indicating good selectivity and showing promising potential in biosensing. 展开更多
