Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) is an Additive Manufacturing technique, which allows production of highly complex solid metal parts with good mechanical properties, compared to conventionally manufactured parts. Nevertheless, the layer-by-layer fabrication process also offers several disadvantages, including a relatively high surface roughness depending on the shape of the component, its position and orientation during the fabrication process. This paper deals with investigations on the surface roughness reduction capability, and residual surface structures by laser polishing of LPBF AlSi10Mg parts under varying initial surface roughness in order to investigate the influence of the surface behavior and initial surface roughness to the achievable surface quality by laser polishing. Hereto test specimens with varying fabrication orientations regarding to the built platform are printed and further polished. Thereby the initial arithmetic roughness varies between 19.2 μm and 8.0 μm. It could be shown that the achievable surface roughness by laser polishing with continuous and pulsed laser radiation is increasing with rising initial roughness, but the relative roughness reduction is almost constant in the range of 95% - 97.5%. The analyzation of the residual roughness structures shows, that the main roughness differences is found in the middle and long structure wavelength regime, which are directly depending on the initial surface structures of 3D printing. 展开更多

This paper presents the manufacturing development of laminated Carbon Fibre Reinforced Thermoplastics Polymer (CFRTP) specimens, which show significant improvement of mechanical properties in comparison with existing thermoplastic composites. There is a need to improve structural performance of thermoplastic composites by using a fully integrated chopped and continuous carbon fibre bundle into a thermoplastic resin matrix in a laminated shape with various stacking sequences. The developed manufacturing technique is capable to print components with various fibre orientations, which is spotted as the novelty of this research. The CFRTP specimens were tested under quasi-static tensile and low-velocity impact loading to proof the improvement of mechanical performance in both static and dynamic applications. Our results indicate a significant improvement in impact resistance and energy absorption capability of CFRTP composites in comparison with existing thermoplastic composites. 展开更多

In epidemiological and clinical studies,the restricted mean lifetime is often of direct interest quantity.The differences of this quantity can be used as a basis of comparing several treatment groups with respect to their survival times.When the factor of interest is not randomized and lifetimes are subject to both dependent and independent censoring,the imbalances in confounding factors need to be accounted.We use the mixture of additive hazards model and inverse probability of censoring weighting method to estimate the differences of restricted mean lifetime.The average causal effect is then obtained by averaging the differences in fitted values based on the additive hazards models.The asymptotic properties of the proposed method are also derived and simulation studies are conducted to demonstrate their finite-sample performance.An application to the primary biliary cirrhosis(PBC)data is illustrated. 展开更多

The experiment was conducted at the experimental field of Olericulture Division, Horticulture Research Centre (HRC), Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), Gazipur, Bangladesh during the winter season of 2018-2019 to study the genetic architecture of yield in a seven parent half diallel cross of bottle gourd. The values of mean square for GCA (general combining ability) and SCA (specific combining ability) were highly significant which suggested the presence of both additive and non-additive genetic variance in the population. But the higher magnitude of GCA compared to SCA indicated predominance of additive genetic variance. In most of the cases, the cross between poor and poor parents showed positive SCA effect for fruit yield, which indicated the higher yield. The estimates of significant positive better parent heterosis ranged from 6.27 to 49.72 percent. Analysis of genetic components of variation suggested that additive components were more important in the inheritance of fruit yield. This character was observed being controlled by two to three pairs of genes or groups of genes. Narrow sense heritability was 23 percent indicating probability of selection in generations. The graphical analysis also indicated wide genetic diversity among the parents. 展开更多

This study focuses on the stepwise procedure involved in the development of a numerical model of a bi-propellant hypergolic chemical propulsion system using key features and performance characteristics of existing and planned (near future) propulsion systems. The study targets specific impulse of 100</span></span><span><span><span style="font-family:""> </span></span></span><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;">N delivery performance of thrust chambers which is suitable for primary propulsion and attitude control for spacecraft. Results from numerical models are reported and validated with the Rocket Propulsion Analysis (RPA) computation concept. In the modelling process, there was proper consideration for the essential parts of the thruster engine such as the nozzle, combustion chamber, catalyst bed, injector, and cooling jacket. This propulsion system is designed to be fabricated in our next step in advancing this idea, using a combination of additive manufacturing technology and commercial off the shelf (COTS) parts along with non-toxic propellants. The two non-toxic propellants being considered are Hydrogen Peroxide as the oxidiser and Kerosene as the fuel, thus making it a low-cost, readily available and environmentally-friendly option for future microsatellite missions. 展开更多

Moench] is a high-yielding, nutrient-use efficient, and drought tolerant crop that can be cultivated on over 80 per cent of the world’s agricultural land. However, a number of biotic and abiotic factors are limiting grain yield increase. Diseases (leaf and grain) are considered as one of the major biotic factors hindering sorghum productivity in the highland and intermediate altitude sorghum growing areas of Ethiopia. In addition, the yield performance of crop varieties is highly influenced by genotype × environment (G × E) interaction which is the major focus of researchers while generating improved varieties. In Ethiopia, high yielding and stable varieties that withstand biotic stress in the highland areas are limited. In line with this, the yield performance of 21 sorghum genotypes and one standard check were evaluated across 14 environments with the objectives of estimating magnitude G </span><span style="font-family:Verdana;">× E interaction for grain yield and to identify high yielder and stable genotypes across environments. The experiment was laid out using Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications in all environments. The combined analysis of variance across environments revealed highly significant differences among environments, genotypes and G × E interactions of grain yield suggesting further analysis of the G × E interaction. The results of the combined AMMI analysis of variance indicated that the total variation in grain yield was attributed to environments effects 71.21%, genotypes effects 4.52% and G × E interactions effects 24.27% indicating the major sources of variation. Genotypes 2006AN7010 and 2006AN7011 were high yielder and they were stable across environments and one variety has been released for commercial production and can be used as parental lines for genetic improvement in the sorghum improvement program. Lack of land for waste disposal is one of the main problems facing urban areas in developing countries. The Sulaimaniyah Governorate, located in northern Iraq, is one of the main cities of the country in the Kurdistan Region, covering an area of 2400 km2. Currently, there is no landfill site in the study region that meets scientific and environmental requirements, inappropriate dumping of solid waste causes adverse effects on the environment, economic and urban aesthetic. To overcome with this phenomenon, it is very crucial to suggest a landfill site, even in countries that recycle or burn their waste to protect the environment. Landfill sites should be carefully selected by considering all regulations and other restrictions. The integration of geographic information systems and multi-criteria decision analysis is used in this study to select suitable landfill locations in the region, for this purpose, thirteen layers are prepared according to their importance including urban area, villages, rivers, groundwater depth, slope, elevation, soil types, geological formations, roads, oil and gas field, land use classification, archaeological site and power lines. Two different methods (simple additive weighting and analytic hierarchy process) are implemented in a geographical information system to obtain the suitability index map for candidate landfill sites, where all these sites satisfied the scientific and environmental criteria which were adopted in this study. The comparison of the maps resulting from these two different methods demonstrates that both methods produced consistent results. 展开更多
