The environmental pollution,as well as gradual depletion of mineral resources has encouraged the world to move into renewable energy sources for generation of electricity.At present,the cost of using renewable energy sources,such as sunshine and wind in electricity generation has significantly reduced.This has led to higher penetration of renewable energy into the grid.However,both wind and solar energy photovoltaics are unpredictable energies which reduce the reliability and resiliency of the grid.The integration of battery energy storage system in the grid is one of the proficient solutions to the problem.There are numerous grid connected renewable energy based battery projects that have been deployed in different countries around the world for research,development and commercial application.This review paper will discuss some of the projects based on the battery connected wind and solar energy power generation systems that can operate both in grid connected and grid independent modes.The projects discussed in this paper are selected based on the availability of information.The battery energy storage system(BESS)incorporated in each of the project is found to increase the stability and performance of the grid by addressing the mismatch between power generation and the load of the grid created due to intermittent nature of renewable energy sources. 展开更多

In recent years,the Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V)communication system has been considered one of the most promising technologies to build a much safer and more efficient transportation system.Both simulation and field test have been extensively performed to evaluate the performance of the V2V communication system.However, most of the evaluation methods are communication-based,and although in a transportation environment,lack a V2V application-oriented analysis.In this study,we conducted real-world tests and built an application-oriented evaluation model.The experiments were classified into four scenarios:static,following,face 2 face,and crossing vertically,which almost covered all the V2V communication patterns on the road.Under these scenarios,we conducted experiments and built a probability model to evaluate the performance of 802.11p and LTE-V in safetyrelated applications.Consequently,we found out that improvements are still needed in Non-Line-of-Sight scenarios. 展开更多

本文探讨了技术对于场景的分割,以及媒介多任务在场对于人们情绪的影响。行为具有绵延性,随着媒介对日常生活的深度渗透,媒介多任务在场已逐渐成为生活中非常典型而普遍的行为。对于技术与时间问题的结合,很多学者也都提出了担忧,比如... 本文探讨了技术对于场景的分割,以及媒介多任务在场对于人们情绪的影响。行为具有绵延性,随着媒介对日常生活的深度渗透,媒介多任务在场已逐渐成为生活中非常典型而普遍的行为。对于技术与时间问题的结合,很多学者也都提出了担忧,比如媒介多任务所带来的紧张感、时空分割所带来的孤独感等。研究基于受众媒介接触调研的数据发现,媒介多任务在场可以显著预测情绪的变化,伴随地点与伴随成员状态是产生影响的两个重要因素:一方面,在人们主动选择线上线下伴随行为时,伴随的主要是正面情绪;另一方面,人们在上网同时处理两个或以上的线上多任务行为时,才会更多地产生焦虑等负面情绪,此外,媒介的延伸所带来的'在场',弥补了快节奏状态下的孤独感,给予我们一种'交流与归属的感觉',带来一种'连接'的意义赋予。然而这并不代表抹除了这促发问题的可能性以及我们担忧的必要性。媒介技术不仅仅是简单的手段,而是变成了一种环境和生活方式。如何看待技术工具的这种多面性,如何作为伟大的人来进行主体的反击,是我们需要继续思索的问题。 展开更多

In the connected vehicle environment,real-time vehicle-state data can be obtained through vehicle-toinfrastructure communication,and the prediction accuracy of urban traffic conditions can significantly increase. This study uses the C++/Qt programming language and framework to build a simulation platform.A two-way six-lane intersection is set up on the simulation platform.In addition,two speed guidance algorithms based on optimizing the travel time of a single vehicle or multiple vehicles are proposed.The goal of optimization is to minimize the travel time,with common indicators such as average delay of vehicles,average number of stops,and average stop time chosen as indexes of traffic efficiency.When the traffic flow is not saturated,compared with the case of no speed guidance,single-vehicle speed guidance can improve the traffic efficiency by 20%,whereas multi-vehicle speed guidance can improve the traffic efficiency by 50%.When the traffic flow is saturated,the speed guidance algorithms show outstanding performance.The effect of speed guidance gradually enhances with increasing penetration rate,and the most obvious gains are obtained when the penetration rate increases from 10% to 40%.Thus,this study has shown that speed guidance in the connected vehicle environment can significantly improve the traffic efficiency of intersections,and the multi-vehicle speed guidance strategy is more effective than the single-vehicle speed guidance strategy. 展开更多

The main content of the article is to control the three-phase grid connected inverter to meet the requirement of controlling the reactive power to zero at a node of the distribution network while maximizing the active power transmitted to the grid. The control circuits are synthesized on the dq coordinate system and verified on the simulation model by Matlab/Simulink. Therefore, CAV related research has been advanced significantly in recent years. This paper does a comprehensive review on five selected subjects that lie in the heart of CAV research:(i) inter-CAV communications;(ii) security of CAVs;(iii) intersection control for CAVs;(iv) collision-free navigation of CAVs;and(v)pedestrian detection and protection. It is believed that these topics are essential to ensure the success of CAVs and need to be better understood. For inter-CAV communications, this paper focuses on both Dedicated Short Range Communications(DSRC) and the future 5 G cellular technologies;for security of CAVs, this paper discusses both passive and active attacks and the existing solutions;for intersection control, this paper summarizes the pros and cons of both centralized and decentralized approaches;for collision avoidance, this paper concentrates on four subareas: maneuverability, vehicle networking, control confliction, and motorcycles;for pedestrian detection, this paper covers sensor, radar, and computer vision based approaches. Under each topic, this paper not only shows the stateof-the-art, but also unveils potential future research directions. By establishing connections among these subjects, this paper shows how they interact with each other and how they can be integrated into a seamless user experience. Multi-Objective Optimization Design through Machine Learning for Drop-on-Demand Bioprinting 预览

Drop-on-demand (DOD) bioprinting has been widely used in tissue engineering due to its highthroughput efficiency and cost effectiveness. However, this type of bioprinting involves challenges such as satellite generation, too-large droplet generation, and too-low droplet speed. These challenges reduce the stability and precision of DOD printing, disorder cell arrays, and hence generate further structural errors. In this paper, a multi-objective optimization (MOO) design method for DOD printing parameters through fully connected neural networks (FCNNs) is proposed in order to solve these challenges. The MOO problem comprises two objective functions: to develop the satellite formation model with FCNNs;and to decrease droplet diameter and increase droplet speed. A hybrid multi-subgradient descent bundle method with an adaptive learning rate algorithm (HMSGDBA), which combines the multisubgradient descent bundle (MSGDB) method with Adam algorithm, is introduced in order to search for the Pareto-optimal set for the MOO problem. The superiority of HMSGDBA is demonstrated through comparative studies with the MSGDB method. The experimental results show that a single droplet can be printed stably and the droplet speed can be increased from 0.88 to 2.08 m·s^-1 after optimization with the proposed method. The proposed method can improve both printing precision and stability, and is useful in realizing precise cell arrays and complex biological functions. Furthermore, it can be used to obtain guidelines for the setup of cell-printing experimental platforms. 展开更多

We develop a Kalman filter for predicting traffic flow at urban arterials based on data obtained from con-nected vehicles. The proposed algorithm is computationally efficient and offers a real-time prediction since it invokes the connected vehicle data just before the prediction period. Moreover, it can predict the traffic flow for various pene-tration rates of connected vehicles (the ratio of the number of connected vehicles to the total number of vehicles). At first, the Kalman filter equations are calibrated using data derived from Vissim traffic simulator for different penetra-tion rates, different fluctuating arrival rates of vehicles and various signal settings. Then the filter is evaluated for a variety of traffic scenarios generated in Vissim simulator. We evaluate the performance of the algorithm for different penetration rates under several traffic situations using some statistical measures. Although many of the previous pre-diction methods depend highly on data from fixed sensors (i.e., loop detectors and video cameras), which are associ-ated with huge installation and maintenance costs, this study provides a low-cost mean for short-term flow prediction only based on the connected vehicle data. 展开更多

Based on an exploration of key-factors of connected remote services(CRS)by means of a qualitative study among German automotive customers,this study operationalizes the phenomenon.The definition of CRS as service innovation captures the special particularity of connectedness as attribute,providing simultaneous connectivity of customers to a service object(e.g.car),and a service provider(e.g.dealer and car manufacturer).The measurement model is conceptualized as a second-order formative construct defining the five key-factors:convenience,connectedness,comfort,safety,and reliability as first-order reflective constructs as identified in the prior qualitative study.The scale validation was undertaken at the first-and second-order levels.The result confirms the five distinct first-order measurement models.At the second-order level,a multiple indicators and multiple causes(MIMIC)model was employed to assess the validity of the formative measurement model.The operationalization confirms the distinctness of the five CRS key-factors.Further,the results suggest that four of five key-factors significantly contribute to the overarching construct of connected remote services,with safety and connectedness being the most important contributors and comfort to be shown as not significant.The confirmed concept of CRS will provide future research with a basis to explore different impacts of CRS use,e.g.in the context of technology acceptance and intentional customer behavior. 展开更多

In this paper,an efficient page rank (PR)exact algorithm is proposed,which can improve the computation efficiency without sacrificing results accuracy.The existing exact algorithms are generally based on the original power method (PM).In order to reduce the number of I/Os required to improve efficiency,they partition the big graph into multiple smaller ones that can be totally fitted in memory.The algorithm proposed in this paper can further reduce the required number of I/Os.Instead of partitioning the graph into the general subgraphs,our algorithm partitions graph into a special kind of subgraphs:SCCs (strongly connected components), the nodes in which are reachable to each other.By exploiting the property of SCC,some theories are proposed,based on which the computation iterations can be constrained on these SCC subgraphs.Our algorithm can reduce lots of I/Os and save a large amount of computations,as well as keeping the results accuracy.In a word,our algorithm is more efficient among the existing exact algorithms.The experiments demonstrate that the algorithms proposed in this paper can make an obvious efficiency improvement and can attain high accurate results. 展开更多

Photovoltaic yield prediction using an irradiance forecast model based on multiple neural networks 预览

In order to develop predictive control algorithms for efficient energy management and monitoring for residential grid connected photovoltaic systems, accurate and reliable photovoltaic(PV) power forecasts are required.A PV yield prediction system is presented based on an irradiance forecast model and a PV model. The PV power forecast is obtained from the irradiance forecast using the PV model. The proposed irradiance forecast model is based on multiple feed-forward neural networks. The global horizontal irradiance forecast has a mean absolute percentage error of 3.4% on a sunny day and 23% on a cloudy day for Stuttgart. PV power forecasts based on the neural network irradiance forecast have performed much better than the PV power persistence forecast model. 展开更多

This paper gives an overview of previous studies on photovoltaic(PV) devices, grid-connected PV inverters,control systems, maximum power point tracking(MPPT)control strategies, switching devices and transformer-less inverters. The literature is classified based on types of PV systems, DC/DC boost converters and DC/AC inverters,and types of controllers that control the circuit to ensure maximum power tracking and stabilization of load and input voltage. This is followed by the theoretical background of PV devices, an overview of MPPT controllers and common mode leakage current, and a detailed investigation of different inverter topologies regarding the ground leakage current. Furthermore, design principles of power converters, such as DC/DC boost converters, and single-phase inverters are discussed. The paper also discusses limitations and benefits in addition to the basic operating principles of several topologies. Finally, the proposed system is derived and its simulation results are discussed to offer the next generation of grid connected PV systems. 展开更多
