Latent factor(LF) models are highly effective in extracting useful knowledge from High-Dimensional and Sparse(HiDS) matrices which are commonly seen in various industrial applications. An LF model usually adopts iterative optimizers,which may consume many iterations to achieve a local optima,resulting in considerable time cost. Hence, determining how to accelerate the training process for LF models has become a significant issue. To address this, this work proposes a randomized latent factor(RLF) model. It incorporates the principle of randomized learning techniques from neural networks into the LF analysis of HiDS matrices, thereby greatly alleviating computational burden. It also extends a standard learning process for randomized neural networks in context of LF analysis to make the resulting model represent an HiDS matrix correctly.Experimental results on three HiDS matrices from industrial applications demonstrate that compared with state-of-the-art LF models, RLF is able to achieve significantly higher computational efficiency and comparable prediction accuracy for missing data.I provides an important alternative approach to LF analysis of HiDS matrices, which is especially desired for industrial applications demanding highly efficient models. 展开更多

The persistence of latent HIV-1 reservoirs throughout combination antiretroviral therapy (cART)is a major barrier on the path to achieving a cure for AIDS.It has been shown that bromodomain and extra-terminal (BET)inhibitors could reactivate HIV-1 latency, but restrained from clinical application due to their toxicity and side effects.Thus,identifying a new type of BET inhibitor with high degrees of selectivity and safety is urgently needed.Apabetalone is a small-molecule selective BET inhibitor specific for second bromodomains,and has been evaluated in phase Ⅲ clinical trials that enrolled patients with high-risk cardiovascular disorders, dyslipidemia,and low HDL cholesterol,in the current study,we examined the impact of apabetalone on HIV-1 latency.We showed that apabetalone (10-50 μmol/L)dose-dependently reactivated latent HIV-1 in 4 types of HIV-1 latency cells in vitro and in primary human CD4+T cells ex vivo.In ACH2 cells,we further demonstrated that apabetalone activated latent HIV-1 .through Tatdependent P-TEFB pathway,i.e.,dissociating bromodomain 4 (BDR4)from the HIV-1 promoter and recruiting Tat for stimulating HIV-1 elongation.Furthermore,we showed that apabetalone (10-30 μmol/L)caused dose-dependent cell cycle arrest at the G1/G0 phase in ACH2 cells,and thereby induced the preferential apoptosis of HIV-1 latent cells to promote the death of reactivated reservoir cells.Notably,cardiovascular diseases and low HDL cholesterol are known as the major side effects of cART,which should be prevented by apabetalone.In conclusion,apabetalone should be an ideal bifunctional latency-reversing agent for advancing HIV-1 eradication and reducing the side effects of BET inhibitors. 展开更多

Over the past four decades of reform and opening up since 1978, China’s GDP has been growing at 9.5% on an annual average basis. While some scholars believe that China’s economic growth is systematically overestimated, this paper carries out an estimation of China’s underground economy and finds that due to the existence of the underground economy, China’s real GDP is systematically underestimated. China’s official GDP statistics generally reflect a real picture of its economic growth. The size of China’s underground economy is significantly influenced by total electricity consumption, the selfemployed ratio, labor participation rate and money supply. Energy Storage Performance of a PCM in the Solar Storage Tank

High-temperature solar thermal power station with solar energy storage is one of the effective ways to solve energy shortage and environmental pollution. The heat storage characteristics of phase change materials in solar energy storage tanks directly affect the performance of the system and its future promotion and utilization. Based on the knowledge of heat transfer, fluid mechanics and engineering thermodynamics, this paper uses MATLAB software to compile the dynamic heat storage characteristics calculation program of phase change materials in energy storage tanks, and verify the results. This paper analyzes the phase change heat storage process with three PCM initial temperatures and three HTF speeds. The results show that when the initial temperature of the PCM changes from 185°C to 210°C, the latent heat storage heat increases by 21.8%, and the total heat storage decreases. Increasing the HTF speed from 1.8 m/s to 2.2 m/s, the melting time was reduced from 414 minutes to 390 minutes, and the total heat storage and sensible heat storage were also increased. The results also show that changing the initial temperature of the PCM and the flow rate of the HTF will change the thermal storage performance of the system. The research has certain reference significance for mastering the basic principle of high temperature solar thermal power generation system and promoting the application of the system. 展开更多

This paper discusses the utilization of latent variable modeling related to occupational health and safety in the mining industry.Latent variable modeling,which is a statistical model that relates observable and latent variables,could be used to facilitate researchers’understandings of the underlying constructs or hypothetical factors and their magnitude of effect that constitute a complex system.This enhanced understanding,in turn,can help emphasize the important factors to improve mine safety.The most commonly used techniques include the exploratory factor analysis(EFA),the confirmatory factor analysis(CFA)and the structural equation model with latent variables(SEM).A critical comparison of the three techniques regarding mine safety is provided.Possible applications of latent variable modeling in mining engineering are explored.In this scope,relevant research papers were reviewed.They suggest that the application of such methods could prove useful in mine accident and safety research.Application of latent variables analysis in cognitive work analysis was proposed to improve the understanding of human-work relationships in mining operations. 展开更多

Alkali metal ions(M+ = Na+,Li+,K+) co-doped ZnAl2O4:Eu3+(5 mol%)(ZAE) nanopowders(NPs) were prepared via solution combustion route using Mimosa pudica(MP) leaves extract as a fuel. PXRD results of co-doped samples enhance the crystallinity and grain growth. Photoluminescence(PL) of the prepared ZAE and ZAE:M+(M+ = Na+, Li+, K+) NPs shows intense emission peaks in the range of 550-750 nm and ascribed to 5D0→7FJ(J=0-4) transitions of Eu3+ ions, respectively. A 2-fold enhancement in PL intensity was observed in Li+ co-doped samples. The optimized ZnAl2O4:Eu3+(5 mol%), Li+(1 wt%)(ZAEL)NPs were used to visualize LFPs on various porous, semi-porous and non-porous surfaces through robust powder dusting technique. The visualized latent fingerprints(LFPs) reveal well defined level 1-3 ridge characteristics under several tests such as fingerprint aging and fresh water treatment for various time durations. The obtained results clearly evidence that the prepared NPs are quite useful for multifunctional applications such as advanced forensic and solid state lightning. 展开更多

Accordingly, this research was aimed at illuminating art and technology interactions in Islamic architecture during early globalization when it flourished along with Christian architecture. To this end, logical reasoning and qualitative data an alysis were performed in parallel on 12 chai ns of mostly worshipone nted artworks, such as mosques and churches. The results indicated that art and tech no logy interactions in Islamic and Christian architecture were underlain by the same nature and seque ntial pattern of begi nning from primitive tech no logy and endi ng with inn ovative technology (art). The cultural and technological value of these architectural styles eventually crossed geographical boundaries. It has some limitations such as cold start, data sparseness and low operation efficiency. In this paper, a CF recommendation algorithm is propose based on the latent factor model and improved spectral clustering (CFRALFMISC) to improve the forecasting precision. The latent factor model was firstly adopted to predict the missing score. Then, the cluster validity index was used to determine the number of clusters. Finally, the spectral clustering was improved by using the FCM algorithm to replace the K-means in the spectral clustering. The simulation results show that CFRALFMISC can effectively improve the recommendation precision compared with other algorithms. 展开更多

Solid organ transplantation(SOT)is the best treatment option for end-stage organ disease.Newer immunosuppressive agents have reduced the incidence of graft rejection but have increased the risk of infection,particularly due to the reactivation of latent infections due to opportunistic agents such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis.Active tuberculosis(TB)after SOT is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality.Most cases of posttransplant TB are secondary to reactivation of latent tuberculosis infection(LTBI)due to the effects of long-term immunosuppressive therapy.Risk minimization strategies have been developed to diagnose LTBI and initiate treatment prior to transplantation.Isoniazid with vitamin B6 supplementation is the treatment of choice.However,liver transplantation(LT)candidates and recipients have an increased risk of isoniazid-induced liver toxicity,leading to lower treatment completion rates than in other SOT populations.Fluoroquinolones(FQs)exhibit good in vitro antimycobacterial activity and a lower risk of drug-induced liver injury than isoniazid.In the present review,we highlight the disease burden posed by posttransplant TB and summarize the emerging clinical evidence supporting the use of FQs for the treatment of LTBI in LT recipients and candidates. 展开更多

The rainfall processes during the formation of tropical cyclone(TC)Durian(2001)were investigated quantitatively using the three-dimensional(3D)WRF-based precipitation equation.The rain rate(PS)decreased slightly as the TC approached to formation,and then increased as Durian began to intensify.The rate of moisture-related processes(QWV)in the equation contributed around 80% to PS before TC genesis,and made more contribution during and after TC genesis.The rate of hydrometeor-related processes(QCM)contributed about 20% before TC formation,followed by less contribution during and after TC formation.QWV were dominated by the 3D moisture flux advection rate(QWVA),while the surface evaporation rate(QWVE)also played an important role.Just before TC genesis,moisture from QWVA and QWVE helped the local atmosphere moisten(negative QWVL).QCM were determined by the 3D hydrometeor advection rates(QCLA and QCIA)and the local change rates of hydrometeors(QCLL and QCIL).During TC formation,QCM largely decreased and then reactivated as Durian began to intensify,accompanied by the development of TC cloud.Both the height and the strength of the net latent heating center associated with microphysical processes generally lowered before and during TC genesis,resulting mainly from lessening deposition and condensation.The downward shift of the net latent heating center induced a more bottom-heavy upward mass flux profile,suggesting to promote lower-tropospheric convergence in a shallower layer,vorticity amplification and TC spin-up. 展开更多

Variations of Surface Heat Fluxes over the Tibetan Plateau before and after the Onset of the South Asian Summer Monsoon during 1979-2016

As the "Third Pole of the World," the Tibetan Plateau (TP) is an important thermal forcing to the South Asian summer monsoon (ASM) and even the global atmospheric circulation. In this paper, surface heat fluxes from the ERA-Interim reanalysis data during March-October of 1979-2016 in the TP and its surrounding areas are examined and analyzed. The results are as follows.(1) From March to May (before the ASM onset), the main body of the TP is dominated by sensible heat flux, which increases rapidly with high (low) values in the west (east), while the change of latent heat flux is small but it increases with time.(2) From June to August (after the ASM onset), sensible heat flux over the TP decreases, while latent heat flux increases rapidly with high (low) values in the east (west).(3) From September to October (after the ASM withdrawal), sensible and latent heat fluxes are comparable to each other in strength, again with high (low) sensible heat flux in the west (east).(4) During 1979-2016, surface sensible heat flux in the whole TP shows a slightly downward trend, while latent heat flux shows an increasing trend. Specifically, in the western TP, sensible (latent) heat flux shows a weak decreasing (an increasing) trend;while in the eastern TP, sensible (latent) heat flux decreases (increases obviously). These variations are consistent with the observed warming and moistening in the TP region. The above results are useful for further analysis of the change of atmospheric heat sources and surface heat fluxes over the TP based on the data from the Third Tibetan Plateau Atmospheric Science Experiment (TIPEX-Ⅲ). 展开更多

Objective: This study aimed to determine prevalence of latent tuberculosis infection among medical students and tuberculosis exposure at the health facilities. Methods: A cross-section of study year 1(n=68) and year 5... Objective: This study aimed to determine prevalence of latent tuberculosis infection among medical students and tuberculosis exposure at the health facilities. Methods: A cross-section of study year 1(n=68) and year 5(n=75) medical students in a local university were recruited for latent tuberculosis infection testing using QuantiFERON-TB Gold Plus and a questionnaire analyzed for multivariate risk. Results: The majority of the study were vaccinated with BCG. None of year 1 medical students were positive for latent tuberculosis infection, however, six(8.0%) year 5 students were tested positive for latent tuberculosis infection. A higher incidence of year 5 medical students claimed to be exposed to tuberculosis at health facility(65.3% vs. 4.4%) and a higher percentage reported contact with tuberculosis case over the preceding year compared to year 1 students(30.7% vs. 8.8%). Conclusion: We observed a higher incidence of latent tuberculosis infection and higher exposure to tuberculosis in health facilities among year 5 medical students. Baseline screening and monitoring for progression to tuberculosis infection may benefit tuberculosis management programs. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Stiff-person syndrome(SPS)and its subtype,stiff limb syndrome(SLS),are rare neurological disorders characterized by progressive muscular rigidity and spasms.Glutamic acid decarboxylase(GAD)is the enzyme that catalyzes the production ofγ-aminobutyric acid(GABA),a major inhibitory neurotransmitter of the central nervous system.SPS is an autoimmune disease triggered by antiglutamic acid decarboxylase antibody(anti-GAD Ab).Clinically,anti-GAD Ab is associated with SPS,type 1 diabetes mellitus(T1DM),and other autoimmune diseases.AIM To investigate the link of autoimmune endocrine disorders with anti-GAD Ab in SPS subjects.METHODS This retrospective study was approved by the Institutional Review Board of Chang Gung Memorial Hospital,Taiwan.We collected the patients with SPS from January 2001 to June 2018.By reviewing 14 patients from medical records,we analyzed the clinical findings with coexisting autoimmune diseases,particularly diabetes mellitus and thyroid disease,which are associated with anti-GAD antibody titers or other immunological test results(anti-thyroid peroxidase and anti-nuclear antibodies).We also evaluated malignancies,major complications,and reported treatment to improve symptoms.Anti-GAD antibodies were measured using radioimmunoassay and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).The cut-off values of these tests are<1 U/mL and<5 U/mL,respectively.RESULTS The median age of all patients was 39.3(range,28.0-54.0)years with a median follow-up period of 6.0(2.7-13.3)years.Five(35.7%)patients were female;twelve(85.7%)were diagnosed with classic SPS and two(14.3%)with SLS.The median age of onset of symptoms was 35.0(26.0-56.0)years with a median follow-up duration of 9.0(2.1-14.9)years in the classic SPS group;the SLS group had a median age of onset of 46.7 years and a shorter follow-up duration of 4.3 years.Among nine classic SPS patients who underwent the anti-GAD Ab test,three were anti-GAD Ab seropositive and each of these three patients also had T1DM,latent autoimmune diabetes in adults,and 展开更多

Measurement invariance and latent mean differences of the Chinese version physical activity self-efficacy scale across gender and education levels

Background: Self-efficacy has been identified as an important determinant of youth's behavior change including physical activity(PA) participation. However, the dimensionality check of a PA self-efficacy scale has rarely been conducted in China. The current study aims to examine(1) the unidimensionality of a shortened Chinese version of PA self-efficacy scale(S-PASESC);(2) the measurement invariance of S-PASESC across gender and levels of education;(3) the latent factor mean difference between gender and levels of education;(4) the direct effects of self-efficacy on PA by different gender and education levels;and(5) the comparisons of the direct effects of self-efficacy on PA across gender and education levels.Methods: The participants were 5 th through 11 th grade public school students recruited from 7 cities located in different geographic regions of China. The final data include a total of 3003 participants(49.7% boys) who have completed the scales.Results: Confirmatory factor analysis(CFA) test supported the unidimensionality of S-PASESC. The S-PASESC is invariant across gender and 3 levels of education at both configural, full metric, and full scalar levels. Findings from latent mean comparisons showed that boys reported higher PA self-efficacy than girls. Students' perceived PA self-efficacy tend to decrease from elementary to high school. Finally, self-efficacy positively related to PA by groups of different gender and education levels and the relationship between self-efficacy and PA is stronger among middle school boys than girls.Conclusion: Findings suggest S-PASESC is a valid scale for measuring Chinese students' PA self-efficacy. 展开更多

In the present work, TiO2:Eu3+ (1 mol%e11 mol%) nano powders(NPs) were prepared via a facile one-pot hydrothermal method by using Epigallocatechin Gallate(EGCG) as bio-surfactant. The optimized TiO2:Eu3+ (5 mol%) NPs can be used as fluorescent labeling agent for visualizing of latent fingerprints(LFPs) on various porous and non-porous surfaces. The obtained results exhibit well defined ridge details with high sensitivity, selectivity, and low background hindrance which show greater advantages as compared to conventional powders. We demonstrated the viability of high-performance security labels thorough excellent luminescence for practical anti-mimetic applications. Morphology of the prepared samples is highly dependent on pH, concentration of the bio-surfactant, temperature and time durations.Photoluminescence(PL) emission spectra exhibit intense red emission at 615 nm due to electric dipole transition(5 D0/7 F2). Photometric(CIE and CCT) results clearly show the intense warm red emission of the optimized samples. Therefore, this work offers a superior and universal luminescent label, which can be applied to visualize miniature LFPs particulars for individualization and consequently display great prospective in forensic investigation. 展开更多

Observations of a quasi-90-day oscillation in the mesosphere and lower thermosphere(MLT)region from April 2011 to December 2014 are presented in this study.There is clear evidence of a quasi-90-day oscillation in temperatures obtained from the Kunming meteor radar(25.6°N,103.8°E)and Sounding of the Atmosphere using Broadband Emission Radiometry(SABER),as well as in wind observed by the Kunming meteor radar.The quasi-90-day oscillation appears to be a prominent feature in the temperatures and meridional wind tides and presents quite regular cycles that occur approximately twice per year.The amplitudes and phases of the quasi-90-day oscillation in the SABER temperature show a feature similar to that of upward-propagated diurnal tides,which have a vertical wavelength of~20 km above 70 km.In the lower atmosphere,a similar 90-day variability is presented in the surface latent heat flux and correlates with the temperature in the MLT region.Similar to the quasi-90-day oscillation in temperature,a 90-day variability of ozone(O3)is also present in the MLT region and is considered to be driven by a similar variability in the upwardly-propagated diurnal tides generated in the lower atmosphere.Moreover,the 90-day variability in the absorption of ultraviolet(UV)radiation by daytime O3 in the MLT region is an in situ source of the quasi-90-day oscillation in the MLT temperature. 展开更多
