Efficient ternary organic solar cells based on a twin spiro-type non-fullerene acceptor

A novel small-molecule(SM) acceptor DTF-IC is designed and synthesized in this work. The power conversion efficiency(PCE) of ternary OSCs increased up to 12.14% from 10.90% by incorporating 10 wt% of DTF-IC as second acceptors into the binary OSCs consisting of PBDB-T as donor and IT-M as acceptor. This was mainly due to the large increase in short-circuit current(Jsc) from 16.18 to 17.95 mA/cm~2, without any drop in the open-circuit voltage(Voc) and fill factor(FF). The addition of DTF-IC enabled the donor and acceptor to form a distinct complementary absorption profile in the visible-light region, which boosted the photon harvesting in the range of 730–800 nm and consequently increased the Jscof the ternary system by 11%. Moreover, there was an energy transfer between the two SM acceptors, favorable for enhancing charge separation and transfer as well as reducing charge recombination at PBDB-T:IT-M and PBDB-T:DTF-IC interface. Simultaneously, HOMO and LUMO energy levels of DTF-IC were lower than those of PBDB-T, but still higher than those of IT-M. Thus, DTF-IC is able to provide a cascading energy level with the host donor and acceptor which are beneficial for efficient charge transfer between the acceptors and facilitating exciton dissociation and carrier transport. Meanwhile, the highly crystalline DTF-IC as a third component can improve the crystallization process of the active layer while maintaining proper phase separation. This work proposes a novel idea for non-fullerene acceptors achieved via twin spiro-type structure modifying by indanone and provides a new direction for the selection of ternary solar cell materials. 展开更多

In this study, a series of random conjugated polymers (PBDB-TBTn) as donors were designed and synthesized. In these polymers, benzodithiophene unit with thiophene conjugated side chains (BDT) are donor part, and two different content of benzo[1,2-c:4,5-c']dithiophene-4,8-dione (BDD) and difluorobenzothiadizole (BT) linked alkylthiophene are acceptor unit. Polymer solar cells (PSCs) were fabricated with ITIC as an acceptor, and over the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 9%was obtained, with open circuit voltage (Voc) of 0.86 V, short-circuit current density (Jsc) of 16.84 mA/cm^2, and fill factor (FF) of 62.5%. These random conjugated polymers based solar cells are insensitive to solvent additives and thermal annealing. The performance of the device decreases gradually with the increasing of the proportion of fluorinated acceptor unit. The declining efficiency is due to the excessive fluorinated acceptor unit, which leads to over aggregated topography, destroys the effective charge transport pathways, and affects phase separation domain size between the donor and the acceptor. The phenomena are explained by the charge carrier recombination, atomic force microscope (AFM), and transmission electron microscope (TEM). These results indicate that proper addition of fluorinated acceptor units to build random copolymers can enhance the efficiency of organic photovoltaics toward additive-free and thermal annealing-free PSCs. 展开更多

We have reported a first principles study of structural, mechanical, electronic, and thermoelectric properties of the monoclinic ternary thallium chalcogenes Tl2MQ3(M = Zr, Hf;Q = S, Se, Te). The electronic band structure calculations confirm that all compounds exhibit semiconductor character. Especially, Tl2ZrTe3 and Tl2HfTe3 can be good candidates for thermoelectric materials, having narrow band gaps of 0.169 eV and 0.21 eV, respectively. All of the compounds are soft and brittle according to the second-order elastic constant calculations. Low Debye temperatures also support the softness. We have obtained the transport properties of the compounds by using rigid band and constant relaxation time approximations in the context of Boltzmann transport theory. The results show that the compounds could be considered for room temperature thermoelectric applications(ZT ~ 0.9). 展开更多

Multilevel resistance random access memories(RRAMs) are intensively studied due to their potential applications in high density information storage. However, the low ternary device yields and high threshold voltages based on current materials cannot meet the requirement for applications. Improvement via material innovation remains desirable and challenging. Herein,five one-dimensional conjugated coordination polymers were synthesized via the reaction between metal ions(Zn2+, Cu2+, Ni2+,Pt2+ and Pd2+) and 2,5-diaminobenzene-1,4-dithiol(DABDT) and fabricated into RRAM devices. The as-fabricated ternary memories have relatively low threshold voltages(Vth1:-1 to-1.4 V, Vth2:-1.8 to-2.2 V). Their ternary device yields were improved from 24% to 56%. The first and the second resistance switches are interpreted by the space charge limited current(SCLC) and grain boundary depletion limited current(GBLC) modes, respectively. The Pd-DABDT, which is of planar structure,smaller band gap and better crystallinity than others, shows the best performance among these five polymers. Our work paves a simple and efficient way to optimize the performance of ternary RRAM devices employing one-dimensional hybrid materials. 展开更多

Progressive developments in industrial and agricultural activities are causing a critical stress on groundwater quality in developing countries.The objective of this paper is to assess and evaluate the contamination level of groundwater caused by leachate in 11 villages of the Gautam Budh Nagar district in Uttar Pradesh,India.We systematically sampled 22 groundwater samples and 13 leachate samples to ascertain the source of pollution on groundwater quality.The standard analytical methods given by the American Public Health Association(APHA)(Standard methods for examination of water and wastewater,23rd edn.APHA,AWWA,WPCF,Washington,2017)were used for quantitative estimation of hydrochemical parameters of collected samples.The results of the analysis of groundwater samples indicate that pH values range from 7.31 to 8.97.The mean magnesium concentration in groundwater samples is 58.93±21.44 mg/L.Out of the groundwater samples taken,approximately 41%and 73%of samples analysis results have been found beyond the acceptable limit with respect to the parameters of turbidity and total dissolved solids,respectively,according to the Bureau of Indian Standards(Indian standard specification for drinking water(IS:10500).BIS,Manak Bhawan,New Delhi,2012)for drinking water.Around 95.4%of groundwater samples and 92.3%of leachate samples have high nitrate concentrations above the standard limit of BIS(45 mg/L),respectively.The Piper plot shows that 50%of the samples belong to the Ca^2+-Mg^2+-HCO3^-type.Ternary and Durov's diagrams indicate that the mean concentrations of ions are in the order of Na^+>Mg^2+>Ca^2+>K^+(for cations)and HCO3^->NO3^->C1^->SO42^->CO32^->F-(for anions)in groundwater of the study area.The spatial variation of the hydrochemical parameters shows that groundwater is heavily contaminated with respect to nitrate.Analytical results indicate that the groundwater of villages Achheja,Bisrakh road,Dujana,Badalpur and Sadopur is not suitable for drinking. 展开更多

In this communication, the crystal structure of Cr4AlB4, a new MAB phase compound(where M is a transition metal, A is Al or Si, B is boron) discovered in Cr-Al-B system is reported. This new MAB phase was synthesized from a mixture of CrB and Al powders at 1000?C and its crystal structure was determined by a combination of X-ray diffraction, first-principles calculations and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDS). Cr4AlB4 crystallizes in an orthorhombic structure with Immm space group. The lattice constants are a = 2.9343(6) ?, b = 18.8911(0) ?, c = 2.9733(7) ?, and the atomic positions are Cr1 at 4 g(0, 0.2936(5),0), Cr2 at 4 h(0.5, 0.5859(7), 0), Al at 2 b(0, 0.5, 0.5), B1 at 4 h(0, 0.3839(8), 0.5) and B2 at 4 g(0.5, 0.6646(2),0.5). 展开更多

It was found that the explicit supply of green feed production and the production areas of beef cattle and mutton sheep related to implicit demand of green feed production terminal are relatively concentrated and stable. The area of green feed production with scale comparative advantage accounts for a large proportion. The number of advantageous areas was less than that of beef cattle and mutton sheep. There were fewer matching advantageous areas between the explicit green feed supply and the implicit cattle and sheep consumption across China. According to the matching between explicit green feed supply and implicit beef and sheep consumption,China’s green feed production can be divided into four types. Therefore,based on grasping the current layout of green feed and beef cattle and mutton sheep production,according to the comparative advantages of each region,the government should make reasonable arrangements according to local conditions and adopt different development strategies for different regions. 展开更多

Phosphogypsum(PG) is a solid waste produced in the phosphate fertilizer industry and is environmentally harmful.The decomposition of PG to recycle calcium and sulfur is a proper way to reutilize PG. Current work aims at enriching the basic theory of coal decomposition process of PG. The emphasis was laid on the exploration of impact of main impurities on the process. On the other hand, according to Reaction Module, Equilib Module, and Phase Diagram Module of FactS age, the simulation computation was done on the systems of pure gypsum mixed with coal,with or without impurities for avoiding other impurities interference. Later, possible reactions in the process were deduced. Additionally, experiments were conducted in a TG-DTA integrated thermal gravimetric analyzer and a tube furnace. The products from the experiments were characterized and analyzed to verify the accuracy of theoretical calculations. The results showed that these impurities can change the decomposition process of PG. For example, aluminum oxide was transformed to calcium sulfoaluminate, while iron oxide was transformed to dicalcium ferrite. Furthermore, the results help to further improve the basic theory of phosphogypsum decomposition. 展开更多

True ternary fission and Tin-accompanied ternary fission of 242Pu are studied by using the'Three Cluster Model'.True ternary fission is considered as a formation of heavy fragments in the region 28≤Z1,Z2,Z3≤38 with comparable masses.The possible fission channels are predicted by the potential-energy calculations.Interaction potentials,Q-values and relative yields for all possible fragmentations in equatorial and collinear configurations are calculated and compared.It is found that ternary fission with formation of a double magic nucleus like 132Sn is more probable than the other fragmentations.Also,the kinetic energies of the fragments for the group Z1=32,Z2=32 and Z3=30 are calculated for all combinations in the collinear geometry as a sequential decay. 展开更多

Over the past decades, the progress in the growth of materials which can be applied to cutting-edge technologies in the field of electronics, optoelectronics and energy harvesting has been remarkable. Among the various materials, group Ⅲ–Ⅴ semiconductors are of particular interest and have been widely investigated due to their excellent optical properties and high carrier mobility. However, the integration of Ⅲ–Ⅴ structures as light sources and numerous other optical components on Si,which is the foundation for most optoelectronic and electronic integrated circuits, has been hindered by the large lattice mismatch between these compounds. This mismatch results in substantial amounts of strain and degradation of the performance of the devices. Nanowires(NWs) are unique nanostructures that induce elastic strain relaxation, allowing for the monolithic integration of Ⅲ–Ⅴ semiconductors on the cheap and mature Si platform. A technique that ensures flexibility and freedom in the design of NW structures is the growth of ternary Ⅲ–Ⅴ NWs, which offer a tuneable frame of optical characteristics, merely by adjusting their nominal composition. In this review, we will focus on the recent progress in the growth of ternary Ⅲ–Ⅴ NWs on Si substrates. After analysing the growth mechanisms that are being employed and describing the effect of strain in the NW growth, we will thoroughly inspect the available literature and present the growth methods, characterization and optical measurements of each of the Ⅲ–Ⅴ ternary alloys that have been demonstrated. The different properties and special treatments required for each of these material platforms are also discussed. Moreover, we will present the results from the works on device fabrication, including lasers, solar cells, water splitting devices, photodetectors and FETs, where ternary Ⅲ–Ⅴ NWs were used as building blocks. Characterization of Cd1-xZnxTe (0≤x≤1) Nanolayers Grown by Atomic Layer Deposition on GaSb and GaAs (001) Oriented Substrates 预览

ZnTe, CdTe, and the ternary alloy CdZnTe are important semiconductor materials used widely for the detection of an important range of electromagnetic radiation as gamma ray and X-ray. Although, recently these materials have acquired renewed importance due to the new explored nanolayer properties of modern devices. In addition, as shown in this work they can be grown using uncomplicated synthesis techniques based on the deposition in vapour phase of the elemental precursors. This work presents the results obtained from the deposition of nanolayers of these materials using the precursor vapour on GaAs and GaSb (001) substrates. This growth technique, extensively known as atomic layer deposition (ALD), allows the layers growth with nanometric dimension. The main results presented in this work are the used growth parameters and the results of the structural characterization of the layers by the means of Raman spectroscopy measurements. Raman scattering shows the peak corresponding to longitudinal optical (LO)-ZnTe, which is weak and slightly redshift in comparison with that reported for the ZnTe bulk at 210 cm^-1. For the case of the CdTe nanolayer, Raman spectra presented the LO-CdTe peak, which is indicative of the successful growth of the layer. Its weak and slightly redshift in comparison with that reported for the CdTe bulk can be related with the nanometric characteristic of this layer. The performed high-resolution X-ray diffraction (HR-XRD) measurement allows to study some important characteristics such as the crystallinity of the grown layer. In addition, the HR-XRD measurement suggests that the crystalline quality has dependence on the growth temperature. 展开更多

The simultaneous electrochemical determination of myricetin and rutin remains a challenge due to their indistinguishable potentials.To solve this problem,we constructed a ternary platinum nanoparticle,reduced graphene oxide,multi-walled carbon nanotubes (Pt@r-GO@MWCNTs) nanocomposite via a facile one-pot synthetic method.Under the optimized conditions,the ternary Pt@r-GO@MWCNTs nanocomposite exhibited good electrocatalytic activity toward myricetin and rutin via solid phase extraction and excellent performance for the simultaneous determination of myricetin and rutin.The oxidation peak current of myricetin was proportional to its concentrations in the range of 0.05-50μM with a detection limit of 0.01μM (S/N=3).The linear range for rutin was 0.05-50μM with a detection limit of 0.005μM(S/N=3).The ternary nanocomposite sensor also exhibited good reproducibility and stability,and was successfully used for the simultaneous determination of myricetin and rutin in real orange juice samples with recoveries ranging between 100.57% and 108.46%. 展开更多

The efficient ternary all-polymer solar cells(PSCs) are designed and fabricated, using a polymer acceptor of NDP-V-C7 and analogue co-donors containing a chlorinated polymer PBCl T and classical PTB7-Th. PBCl T and PTB7-Th possess very similar chemical structure and matched energy levels to form the cascade of the co-donors. Meanwhile, benefiting from those analogous polymer structures, there is little influence of the morphology in blend film compared to their pristine polymer films. The binary PBCl T:NDP-V-C7 devices exhibit a high open-circuit voltage(Voc) due to the deep HOMO level of PBCl T. The Vocof all-PSCs could be finely manipulated by adjusting the content of PBCl T in blend film. The ternary all-PSCs have the more balanced charge mobility and prolonged carrier lifetime compared to the binary devices. The PBCl T also help improve the miscibility of ternary blend and suppress crystallization in films, bringing about favorable morphology with appropriate orientation and surface roughness in blend film. With the optimal processing, the champion ternary all-PSCs obtain a high PCE of 9.03%, which is about 10% enhancement compared to that of binary device. The results indicate that the ternary approach using analogue co-donors is a practical method to enhance the performance of all-PSCs. 展开更多

The study focuses on the in flue nee of Ni and Bi on alkali me etha nol oxidati on reacti on (EOR) activities, stabilities and structure characteristics of carb on supported Pd-based nano catalysts (Pd/C, Pd6oNi4o/C, Pd6oBi4o/C, Pd6oNi2oBi2o/C) by cyclic voltammetry/chr ono amperometry using rotating disk electrode and various physico-chemical methods such as X-ray powder diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry. Nickel generates more adsorbed OH on the Pd catalyst surface than Bi and promotes the oxidation of adsorbed ethanol species. This results in a low onset potential toward ethanol oxidation with high current density. The presenee of Bi facilitates high toleranee toward various reaction in termediates resulting from the incomplete etha nol oxidation, but might also initiate the agglomerati on of Pd nano particles. The no vel Pd60Ni20Bi20/C nanocatalyst displays exceptional byproduct toleranee, but only satisfying catalytic activity toward ethanol oxidation in an alkaline medium. Therefore, the EOR performanee of the novel carbon supported ternary PdxNiyBiz anode catalyst with various atomic variations (Pd70Ni25Bi5/C, Pd70Ni20Bi10/C, Pd80Ni10Bi10/C and Pd40Ni20Bi40/C) using the common instant reduction synthesis method was further optimized for the alkaline direct ethanol fuel cell. The carbon supported Pd:Ni:Bi nano catalyst with atomic ratio of 70:20:10 displays outsta nding catalytic activity for the alkaline EOR compared to the other PdxNiyBiy/C nanocatalysts as well as to the benchmarks Pd/C, Pd60Ni40/C and Pd60Bi40/C. The synergy and the optimal content in consideration of the oxide species of Pd, Ni and Bi are crucial for the EOR kinetic enhancement in alkaline medium. 展开更多

Effect of Electron Beam Irradiation on Thermal and Mechanical Properties of Polyamide Copolymer/Multiwall Carbon Nanotube Composites

Ternary polyamide(tPA) copolymer is susceptible to degradation when it is irradiated by electron beam(e-beam), and effective methods to avoid degradation and increase gel content are highly desirable for crosslinking.Carboxylated multiwall carbon nanotube(MWCNT) is modified by hydroxyethyl acrylate(HEA) in this paper and used as a co-agent for the e-beam irradiation crosslinking of tPA copolymer. HEA modified MWCNT can function as an effective co-agent for the e-beam irradiation crosslinking of tPA copolymer to increase the gel content and improve the mechanical properties of tPA copolymer. Under an irradiation of 160 kGy, addition of 2 parts per hundred(phr) HEA modified MWCNT into tPA copolymer can increase the gel content of tPA copolymer from about 20% to 40%(mass ratio) and increase the tensile strength from 45 to 59 MPa. The irradiation also affects the glass transition temperature of tPA copolymer by increasing the gel content. The results show that HEA modified MWCNT can act as a nucleating agent to increase the crystallization temperature, melting temperature and crystallinity of tPA copolymer. 展开更多

Facial expression recognition based on improved completed local ternary patterns

The information of expression texture extracted by the completed local ternary patterns(CLTP) method is not accurate enough, which may cause low recognition rate. Therefore, an improved completed local ternary patterns(ICLTP) is proposed here. Firstly, the Scharr operator is used to calculate gradient magnitudes of images to enhance the detail of texture, which is beneficial to obtaining more accurate expression features. Secondly, two different neighborhoods of CLTP features are combined to obtain much information of facial expression. Finally, K nearest neighbor(KNN) and sparse representation classifier(SRC) are combined for classification and a 10-fold cross-validation method is tested in the JAFFE and CK+ databases. The results show that the ICLTP method can improve the recognition rate of facial expression and reduce the confusion between various expressions. Especially, the misrecognition rate of other six expressions recognized as neutral is reduced in the 7-class expression recognition. 展开更多

New Urban Districts(NUDs)are the important spatial carriers to promote urban expansion or transformation.Since the 1990 s,they have been playing a more and more crucial role in China’s urbanization.For NUDs in the strict sense we found that:96%to the east of Hu Line;56%within the municipal districts;64%within 36 km from their every city center and below the area of 423 km~2.The regional distribution follows significant spatial difference as"Eastern Region(50%)–Central Region(42%)–Western Region(8%)",and the provinces with the largest number of NUDs are Guangdong,Henan,Zhejiang,Liaoning,and Jiangsu.Furthermore,their interesting constructed process highlights the typical characteristics of spatial production and spatial dialectic.This paper uses the theory of the production of space,and discovers that the growth of NUDs is a rapid ternary dialectical process of spatial production:"representations of space"is guided by the top-down governmental power;"spatial practice"is reflected in the hierarchical and regional difference of spatial elements,such as the type,pattern,distance and area of NUD;"spaces of representation"embodies the tension between governmental power and urban development rights,as well as the countermeasure mechanism.The extensibility of spatiotemporal sequences ensures the unity and continuity of spatial(re)production of NUDs.However,this is also facing a series of challenges like the management coordination of administrative division and the increasing unbalanced or inadequate development.Thus,critically rethinking the evolution of NUD is the key basis for achieving sustainable urban renewal and regional orderly development in the new era. 展开更多
