As the open reading frames of hepatitis B virus(HBV)genomes are overlapping,resistance mutations(MTs)in HBV polymerase may result in stop codon MTs in hepatitis B surface proteins,which are usually detected as a mixed population with wild-type(WT)HBV.The question was raised how the coexistence of nucleos(t)ide analogs(NAs)resistance MTs and WT sequences affects HBV replication.In the present study,HBV genomes with frequently detected reverse transcriptase(RT)/surface truncation MTs,rtA181T/sW172^*,rtV191I/sW182^*and rtM204I/sW196^*,were phenotypically characterized alone or together with their WT counterparts in different ratios by transient transfection in the absence or presence of Nas.In the absence of Nas,RT/surface truncation MTs impaired the expression and secretion of HBV surface proteins,and had a dose-dependent negative effect on WT HBV virion secretion.However,in the presence of Nas,coexistence of MTs with WT maintained viral replication,and the presence of WT was able to rescue the production of MT HBV virions.Our findings reveal that complementation of WT and MT HBV genomes is highly effective under drug treatment. 展开更多

Controllable precision of the projective truncation approximation for Green’s functions

In that approximation, the precision of results depe... Recently, we developed the projective truncation approximation for the equation of motion of two-time Green’s functions(Fan et al., Phys. Rev. B 97, 165140(2018)). In that approximation, the precision of results depends on the selection of operator basis. Here, for three successively larger operator bases, we calculate the local static averages and the impurity density of states of the single-band Anderson impurity model. The results converge systematically towards those of numerical renormalization group as the basis size is enlarged. We also propose a quantitative gauge of the truncation error within this method and demonstrate its usefulness using the Hubbard-I basis. We thus confirm that the projective truncation approximation is a method of controllable precision for quantum many-body systems. 展开更多

The count of one column for high-dimensional datasets, i.e., the number of records containing this column, has been widely used in nuinerous applications such as analyzing popular spots based on check-in location information and mining valuable items from shopping records. However, this poses a privacy threat when directly publishing this information. Differential privacy (DP), as a notable paradigm for strong privacy guarantees, is thereby adopted to publish all column counts. Prior studies have verified that truncating records or grouping columns can effectively improve the accuracy of published results. To leverage the advantages of the two techniques, we combine these studies to further boost the accuracy of published results. However, the traditional penalty function, which measures the error imported by a given pair of parameters including truncating length and group size, is so sensitive that the derived parameters deviate from the optimal parameters significantly. To output preferable parameters, we first design a smart penalty function that is less sensitive than the traditional function. Moreover, a two-phase selection method is proposed to compute these parameters efficiently, together with the improvement in accuracy. Extensive experiments on a broad spectrum of real-world datasets validate the effectiveness of our proposals. 展开更多

The paper reviews the most consequential defects and rectification of traditional mathematics and its foundations. While this work is only the tip of the iceberg, so to speak, it gives us a totally different picture of mathematics from what we have known for a long time. This journey started with two teasers posted in SciMath in 1997: 1) The equation 1 = 0.99… does not make sense. 2) The concept ?does not exist. The first statement sparked a debate that raged over a decade. Both statements generated a series of publications that continues to grow to this day. Among the new findings are: 3) There does not exist nondenumerable set. 4) There does not exist non-measurable set. 5) Cantor’s diagonal method is flawed. 6) The real numbers are discrete and countable. 7) Formal logic does not apply to mathematics. The unfinished debate between logicism, intuitionism-constructivism and formalism is resolved. The resolution is the constructivist foundations of mathematics with a summary of all the rectification undertaken in 2015, 2016 and in this paper. The extensions of the constructivist real number system include the complex vector plane and transcendental functions. Two important results in the 2015 are noted: The solution and resolution of Hilbert’s 23 problems that includes the resolution of Fermat’s last theorem and proof Goldbach’s conjecture. 展开更多

Based on geologic, seismic and drilling data of basins in China, the basic types of 'truncation and onlap' unconformities are examined and their temporal and spatial variation and geologic significances are explored. The 'truncation and onlap' unconformities and superimposing styles of overlying and underlying strata vary under different tectonic settings. Under extensional settings, there are three basic superimposing styles and unconformities, such as parallel superimposing style and unconformity with breaking outward, parallel superimposing style and unconformity with breaking inward, as well as superimposing and unconformity style with rotation. Under compressional settings, there are four basic types, such as overlap superimposing style and unconformity on fold, syn-depositional fold superimposing style and unconformity, anticline-syncline superimposing style and unconformity, as well as superimposing style and unconformity in overlap-filling incised valley on top of folds. 'Truncation and onlap' unconformities always superimposed each other in space, and exhibit three kinds of superimposed unconformities, i.e., superimposed unconformities formed under continuous uplifting, under transition of uplifting, and under propagation of deposition center. They may also change with time too, i.e., tilting, rotating, folding, and migration. Controlled by the migration of basin depocenters, it is shown that there are unconformities formed under the transition of paleogeomorphy or subsidence center, under the migration of fault-sag, and under the slipping of detachment fault. 'Truncation and onlap' unconformities are important positions for traps and significant pathways for hydrocarbon migration, and they are favorable sites for ore deposit and resources occurrence. 展开更多

The research on the numerical solution of the nonlinear Leland equation has important theoretical significance and practical value. To solve nonlinear Leland equation, this paper offers a class of difference schemes with parallel nature which are pure alternative segment explicit-implicit(PASE-I) and implicit-explicit(PASI-E) schemes. It also gives the existence and uniqueness,the stability and the error estimate of numerical solutions for the parallel difference schemes. Theoretical analysis demonstrates that PASE-I and PASI-E schemes have obvious parallelism, unconditionally stability and second-order convergence in both space and time. The numerical experiments verify that the calculation accuracy of PASE-I and PASI-E schemes are better than that of the existing alternating segment Crank-Nicolson scheme, alternating segment explicit-implicit and implicit-explicit schemes. The speedup of PASE-I scheme is 9.89, compared to classical Crank-Nicolson scheme. Thus the schemes given by this paper are high efficient and practical for solving the nonlinear Leland equation. 展开更多

For the multi-frequency acoustic analysis, a series expansion method has been introduced to reduce the computation time of the frequency-independent parts, but the Runge phenomenon will arise when this method is employed in high frequency band. Therefore, this method is improved by analyzing the application condition and proposing the selection principle of the series truncation number. The argument interval can be adjusted with the wavenumber factor. Therefore, the problem of unstable numeration and poor precision can be solved, and the application scope of this method is expanded. The numerical example of acoustic radiation shows that the improved method is correct for acoustic analysis in wider frequency band with less series truncation number and computation amount. 展开更多
