Numerical study on magneto-Rayleigh–Taylor instabilities for thin liner implosions on the primary test stand facility

The thin aluminum liners with an aspect ratio R/?r 1 have been imploded on the primary test stand(PTS) facility,where R is the outer radius of the liner and ?r is the thickness. The x-ray self-emission images present azimuthally correlated perturbations in the liner implosions. The experiments show that at-10 ns before the stagnation, the wavelengths of perturbation are about 0.93 mm and 1.67 mm for the small-radius and large-radius liners, respectively. We have utilized the resistive magnetohydrodynamic code PLUTO to study the development of magneto-Rayleigh–Taylor(MRT) instabilities under experimental conditions. The calculated perturbation amplitudes are consistent with the experimental observations very well. We have found that both mode coupling and long implosion distance are responsible for the more developed instabilities in the large-radius liner implosions. 展开更多

In order to develop a highly sensitive material for nondestructive testing(NDT),(Tb0.3 Dy0.7)Fe1.95 thin films were deposited on FeCo substrates at room temperature by magnetron sputtering and annealed.The magnetostrictive properties and the detection efficiency of the composite films were investigated.Results demonstrate that the detection efficiency roughly shows regular consistency with the magnetostrictive strain of the TbDyFe films. Heat treatment has a great effect on the crystalline state and the magnetostrictive strain of the composite materials. The as-deposited(Tb0.3 Dy0.7)Fe1.95 films are amorphous, and the saturation magnetostriction(ls) is only 90 ppm. However, the nanostructured crystalline REFe2 is partially separated out in amorphous matrix after annealing at 600C for 1 h, and the ls increases to 265 ppm. Simultaneously, the detection efficiency of the composite materials is obviously improved compared to that of the as-deposited films. The detection signal of traditional FeCo strip is0.4 V at the excitation power of 1.0 P and frequency of 128 kHz and that of the strip increases significantly by depositing one layer of(Tb0.3 Dy0.7)Fe1.95 film. The detection signal of the composite material annealed at 600C is the best, even reaching saturation value of 2.5 V(1.0 P, 128 kHz). The results may provide us with a method for preparing new materials for NDT. 展开更多

The corrosion behavior of 2 A02 Al alloy under simulated marine atmospheric environment has been studied using mass-gain, scanning electron microscope/energy dispersive spectroscopy(SEM/EDS), laser scanning confocal microscopy, X-ray diffraction spectroscopy and localized electrochemical methods. The results demonstrate that the relationship between the corrosion induced mass-gain and the corrosion time is in accordance with the power rule. The mass-gain increases gradually during the corrosion time,while the corrosion rate decreases. With ongoing of the corrosion, corrosion products film changed from a porous to a compact structure. The various spectroscopic data show that the corrosion products films composed mainly of Al(OH)3, Al2O3 and AlCl3. The electrochemical corrosion behavior of the 2 A02 Al alloy was studied by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS). 展开更多

In this paper, a non-wearable posture correction system is proposed based on thin film pressure sensor. The system is designed according to human engineering and human kinematics and it includes two parts using the concept of modularization. The pressure data is collected by the thin film pressure sensors installed on the correction holder at the obviously changing points of the 8 changed sitting postures. When the data is processed by Arduino, different sitting postures will be analyzed and judged. Then the feedback mechanism of the system will send out reminders and correct the sitting posture by combing with lighting factors. At the same time, the user can monitor the sitting posture in time at the client on the mobile APP. The system can accurately indicate the change relationship between the back and shoulder in different sitting postures, and the recognition rate of all kinds of sitting postures is up to 95%, which basically enable the detection function on sitting postures. The system is simple, convenient and effective. The user can master the siting posture situation in time with the mobile software and the reminder mechanism, so to help teenagers to correct their sitting postures. 展开更多

Flexible electronic devices have attracted much attention due to their practical and commercial value. Integration of thin films with soft substrate is an effective way to fabricate flexible electronic devices. Ga2O3 thin films deposited directly on soft substrates would be amorphous mostly. However, the thickness of the thin film obtained by mechanical exfoliation method is difficult to control and the edge of the film is fragile and easy to be damaged. In this work, we fabricated free-standing Ga2O3 thin films using the water-soluble perovskite Sr3Al2O6 as a sacrificial buffer layer. The obtained Ga2O3 thin films were polycrystalline. The thickness and dimension of the films were controllable. A flexible Ga2O3solar-blind UV photodetector was fabricated by transferring the free-standing Ga2O3 film on a flexible polyethylene terephthalate substrate. The results displayed that the photoelectric performances of the flexible Ga2O3 photodetector were not sensitive to bending of the device. The free-standing Ga2O3 thin films synthesized through the method described here can be transferred to any substrates or integrated with other thin films to fabricate electronic devices. 展开更多

Dependence of Thermal Annealing on Transparent Conducting Properties of HoF3-Doped ZnO Thin Films

A kind of n-type HoF3-doped zinc oxide-based transparent conductive film has been developed by electron beam evaporation and studied under thermal annealing in air and vacuum at temperatures 100–500℃.Effective substitutional dopings of F to O and Ho to Zn are realized for the films with smooth surface morphology and average grain size of about 50 nm.The hall mobility,electron concentration,resistivity and work function for the asdeposited films are 47.89 cm2/Vs,1.39×1020cm-3,9.37×10-4Ω·cm and 5.069 eV,respectively.In addition,the average transmittance in the visible region(400–700 nm)approximates to 87%.The HoF3:ZnO films annealed in air and vacuum can retain good optoelectronic properties under 300℃,thereinto,more stable electrical properties can be found in the air-annealed films than in the vacuum-annealed films,which is assumed to be a result of improved nano-crystalline lattice quality.The optimized films for most parameters can be obtained at 200℃ for the air-annealing case and at room temperature for the vacuum annealing case.The advisable optoelectronic properties imply that HoF3:ZnO can facilitate carrier injection and has promising applications in energy and light sources as transparent electrodes. 展开更多

Herein,we report the victorious synthesis of metal-organic frameworks(MOFs) on TiO2 nanotubes(NTs)using a layer-by-layer(LbL) approach.Highly crystalline and homogenous thin films of MOFs were grown and characterized using XRD,SEM,FT-IR and UV/Vis spectroscopy.Moreover,the utilization of the MOF films as sensitizers was probed in bespoke Graetzel type liquid junction solar cells.The constructed cell performance revealed an Isc of 1.16 mA cm–2,Vocof 0.63 V,FF of 0.33,and Eff of 0.42%.Further,pumpprobe transient laser spectroscopy was performed to investigate the energy and charge transfer dynamics of the MOFs/TiO2 NTs interface.The results indicated 86% injection efficiency.The ultrafast pump-probe spectroscopy allows the investigation of this process and the differences between MOFs.It also showed that the relaxation of the MOF chromophores is in competition with electron injection in the Ti O2 motif.Thus this study provides a new insight into electron transfer from photoexcited metal-organic frameworks(MOFs) into titanium dioxide. 展开更多

We perform a linear analysis of the elastic fields and stability of epitaxially strained thin films based on nonlocal elasticity.We derive expressions of perturbed stresses to the first order of perturbation amplitude,which show that the stresses are directly proportional to the lattice mismatch and the perturbation amplitude,and decrease with an increase in the perturbation wavelength.The critical perturbation wavelength distinguishes whether the fiat film for the perturbation is stable,which is inversely proportional to the square of the mismatch and decreases with the thickness of the film. 展开更多

Here, we present a technique for applying uniaxial stress, which enables us in situ to tune exciton optical properties at low temperature down to 15 K with high tuning precision. The design and operation of the device are described in detail. This technique provides a simple and convenient approach to tune QD structural symmetry, exciton energy and biexciton binding energy. It can be utilized for generating entangled and indistinguishable photons. Moreover, this device can be employed for tuning optical properties of thin film materials at low temperature. 展开更多

This paper describes interlayer exchange coupling (IEC) phenomena in ferromagnetic multilayer structures, focusing on the unique IEC features observed in ferromagnetic semiconductor (Ga,Mn)As-based systems. The dependence of IEC on the structural parameters, such as non-magnetic spacer thickness, number of magnetic layers, and carrier density in the systems has been investigated by using magnetotransport measurements. The samples in the series show both a typical anisotropic magnetoresistance (AMR) and giant magnetoresistance (GMR)-like effects indicating realization of both ferromagnetic (FM) and antiferromagnetic (AFM) IEC in (Ga,Mn)As-based multilayer structures. The results revealed that the presence of carriers in the nonmagnetic spacer is an important factor to realize AFM IEC in this system. The studies further reveal that the IEC occurs over a much longer distance than predicted by current theories, strongly suggesting that the IEC in (Ga,Mn)As-based multilayers is a long-range interaction. Due to the long-range nature of IEC in the (Ga,Mn)As-based systems, the next nearest neighbor (NNN) IEC cannot be ignored and results in multi-step transitions during magnetization reversal that correspond to diverse spin configurations in the system. The strength of NNN IEC was experimentally determined by measuring minor loops that correspond to magnetization flips in specific (Ga,Mn)As layer in the multilayer system. 展开更多

Topological insulators (TIs) host robust edge or surface states protected by time-reversal symmetry (TRS), which makes them prime candidates for applications in spintronic devices. A promising avenue of research for the development of functional TI devices has involved doping of three-dimensional (3D) TI thin film and bulk materials with magnetic elements. This approach aims to break the TRS and open a surface band gap near the Dirac point. Utilizing this gapped surface state allows for a wide range of novel physical effects to be observed, paving a way for applications in spintronics and quantum computation. This review focuses on the research of 3D TIs doped with manganese (Mn). We summarize major progress in the study of Mn doped chalcogenide TIs, including Bi2Se3, Bi2Te3, and Bi2(Te,Se)3. The transport properties, in particular the anomalous Hall effect, of the Mn-doped Bi2Se3 are discussed in detail. Finally, we conclude with future prospects and challenges in further studies of Mn doped TIs. 展开更多

An efficient and innovative catalytic reactor for VOCs emission control

Efficient mixing and thermal control are important in the flow reactor for obtaining a high product yield and selectivity.Here,we report a heterogeneous chemical kinetic study of propene oxidation within a newly designed catalytic jet-stirred reactor(CJSR).To better understand the interplay between the catalytic performances and properties,the CuO thin films have been characterized and the adsorbed energies of propene on the adsorbed and lattice oxygen were calculated using density functional theory(DFT)method.Structure and morphology analyses revealed a monoclinic structure with nano-crystallite size and porous microstructure,which is responsible for holding an important quantity of adsorbed oxygen.The residence time inside the flow CJSR(1.12–7.84 s)makes it suitable for kinetic study and gives guidance for scale-up.The kinetic study revealed that using CJSR the reaction rate increases with O2concentration that is commonly not achievable for catalytic flow tube reactor,whereas the reaction rate tends to increase slightly above 30%of O2due to the catalyst surface saturation.Moreover,DFT calculations demonstrated that adsorbed oxygen is the most involved oxygen,and it has found that the pathway of producing propene oxide makes the reaction of C3H6over CuO surface more likely to proceed.Accordingly,these findings revealed that CJSR combined with theoretical calculation is suitable for kinetic study,which can pave the way to investigate the kinetic study of other exhaust gases. 展开更多

We studied the role of oxygen in Pr2CuO4±δ thin films fabricated by the polymer assisted deposition method.The magnetoresistance and Hall resistivity of Pr2CuO4±δ samples were systematically investigated.It was found that with decreasing oxygen content,the low-temperature Hall coefficient (RH) and magnetoresistance changed from negative to positive,similar to those with the increase of Ce-doped concentration in R2-xCexCuO4 (R = La,Nd,Pr,Sm,Eu).In addition,we observed that the dependence of the superconducting critical temperature Tc with RH for the Pr2-xCexCuO4 perfectly overlapped with that of Pr2CuO4±δ.These findings point to the fact that the doped electrons induced by the oxygen removal are responsible for the superconductivity of the T0-phase parent compounds. 展开更多

In order to achieve refined precipitation grid data with high accuracy and high spatial resolution,hourly precipitation grid dataset with 1 km spatial resolution in Anhui Province from May to September (in the rainy season) in 2016 and from August 2017 to July 2018 was established based on thin plate smoothing spline (TPS),which meets the needs of climate change research and meteorological disaster risk assessment.The interpolation errors were then analyzed.The grid precipitation product obtained based on thin plate smoothing spline,CLDAS-FAST and CLDAS-FRT were evaluated.The results show that the interpolated values of hourly precipitation by thin plate smoothing spline are close to the observed values in the rainy season of 2016.The errors are generally below 0.9 mm/h.However,the errors of precipitation in the mountainous areas of eastern Huaibei and western Anhui are above 1.2 mm/h.On monthly scale,the errors in June and July are the largest,and the proportion of absolute values of the errors ≥2 mm/h is up to 2.0% in June and 2.2% in July.The errors in September are the smallest,and the proportion of absolute values of the errors ≥2 mm/h is only 0.6%.The root mean square (RMSE) is only 0.37 mm/h,and the correlation coefficient (COR) is 0.93.The interpolation accuracy of CLDAS-FRT is the highest,with the smallest RMSE (0.65 mm/h) and mean error ( ME =0.01 mm/h),and the largest COR (0.81).The accuracy of the precipitation product obtained by thin plate smoothing spline interpolation is close to that of CLDAS-FAST.Its RMSE is up to 0.80 mm/h,and its ME is only -0.01 mm/h.Its COR is 0.73,but its bias (BIAS) is up to 1.06 mm/h. 展开更多

Influence of low-temperature sulfidation on the structure of ZnS thin films

The crystal structure,surface morphology, defects, and optical properties of the thin films were characterized by x-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microscopy(SEM), positron annihilation Doppler broadening, and UV-Vis spectrophotometer, respectively.It was found that the(200)-plane preferred orientation of the ZnS thin films changed to(111)-plane with increasing sulfidation temperature. Moreover, a number of large holes were generated at 420?C and eliminated at 440?C. The concentration of defects was lowest when the sulfuration temperature was 440?C. The optical transmission of all samples was maintained at 60%–80% in the wavelength range of 400 nm–800 nm, and the band energy of the ZnS thin films was approximately3.5 e V for all treatment temperatures except 430?C. 展开更多

Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy(LIBS)is a promising analytical spectroscopy technology based on spectroscopic analysis of the radiation emitted by laser-produced plasma.However,for quantitative analysis by LIBS,the so-called self-absorption effects on the spectral lines,which affect plasma characteristics,emission line shapes,calibration curves,etc,can no longer be neglected.Hence,understanding and determining the self-absorption effects are of utmost importance to LIBS research.The purpose of this review is to provide a global overview of self-absorption in LIBS on the issues of experimental observations and adverse effects,physical mechanisms,correction or elimination approaches,and utilizations in the past century.We believe that better understanding and effective solving the self-absorption effect will further enhance the development and maturity of LIBS. 展开更多

Sliding wear behavior of fully nanotwinned Cu alloys

Highly nanotwinned(NT) metals have advantages such as high strength,good ductility,favorable corrosion resistance,and thermal stability.It has been demonstrated that the introduction of high density NT microstructures can enhance the tribological properties of metals.However,the influence of the microstructure and the composition of NT alloys on the tribological behavior are not clear.In this work,the sliding wear behavior of fully NT materials,specifically Cu-Al and Cu-Ni alloys,are studied by a nanoscratch technique using a nanoindenter.The effects of microstructure and chemical composition on the wear properties are also studied.The results show that the chemical composition has an obvious influence on the wear resistance and microstructural deformation.For NT Cu-Al alloys,the hardness and sliding wear resistance improve with increased Al content from Cu-2 wt.%Al to Cu-6 wt.%Al.NT Cu-10 wt.%Ni alloy shows even better wear resistance than Cu-6 wt.%Al.The microstructural analysis shows that NT Cu alloys with higher wear resistance correspond to a smaller deformation-affected zone.The improvement of sliding wear properties of Cu-Al alloys with higher Al content may be ascribed to their decreased stacking fault energy.NT Cu-Ni alloy shows better wear resistance than Cu-Al alloy,this may be related to the formation of intermetallic compounds in Cu-Al system.This study broadens the knowledge about tribological properties of NT materials and provides a potential method to optimize their sliding wear resistance by altering the chemical composition of NT Cu alloys. 展开更多

The tungsten thin wall parts which were used as high-performance collimator devices were fabricated by optimizing selective laser melting laser parameters.The effect of laser power and scan rate on wall thickness and surface morphology of tungsten山in wall parts was investigated,respectively.The results indicated that the wall thickness increased with the enhancemem in laser power as a linear relationship.On the contrary,the wall thickness decayed exponentially with the acceleration in laser sean rate.Meanwhile,the wall thickness of the parts fabricated by laser double-pass melting was ihinner than that fabricated by laser single-pass melting.In addition,mathematic models for selecting suitable laser power and laser sean rate to fabricate specified tungsten thin wall parts were proposed.Furthermore,the effects of laser parameters on the top surface roughness,adhesive parts and hot cracks were also discussed. 展开更多

High-performance photodetectors are expected to open up revolutionary opportunities in many application fields, such as environment monitoring, military, optical communication and biomedical science. Combining two-dimensional materials(which have tunable optical absorption and high carrier mobility) with organic materials(which are abundant with low cost, high flexibility and large-area scalability) to form thin-film heterojunctions, high-responsivity photodetectors could be predicted with fast response speed in a wide spectra region.In this review, we give a comprehensive summary of photodetectors based on two-dimensional materials and organic thin-film heterojunctions, which includes hybrid assisted enhanced devices, single-layer enhanced devices, vertical heterojunction devices and tunable vertical heterojunction devices. We also give a systematic classification and perspectives on the future development of these types of photodetectors. 展开更多
