The microbiologically influenced corrosion(MIC) mechanisms of copper by Pseudomonas aeruginosa as a typical strain of nitrate reducing bacteria(NRB) was investigated in this lab study.Cu was immersed in deoxygenated LB-NO3 seawater inoculated with P.aeruginosa and incubated for 2 weeks.Results showed that this NRB caused pitting and uniform corrosion.The maximum pit depths after 7 d and 14 d in125 mL anaerobic vials with 50 mL broth were 5.1 μm and 9.1 μm,accompanied by specific weight losses of 1.3 mg/cm2(7 d) and 1.7 mg/cm2(14 d),respectively.Electrochemical measurements corroborated weight loss and pit depth data trends.Experimental results indicated that extracellular electron transfer for nitrate reduction was the main MIC mechanism and ammonia secreted by P.aeruginosa could also play a role in the overall Cu corrosion process. 展开更多

Influence of Nanocrystalline Structure on Wear and Corrosion Behavior of Al-SiC<sub>P</sub>Composite 认领

Functionally graded (FG) Al-SiCP composites fabricated via centrifugal casting are widely used in automobile components particularly a brake rotor disc be-cause of its high SiC fraction at the outer periphery. However, when operated in corrosive environment like road deicing salts the disc is highly sensitive to the corrosion due to high SiC fraction. But, the nanocrystalline (NC) structured surfaces synthesized by severe plastic deformation (SPD) method have excel-lent wear and corrosion resistance at the surface. Therefore, shot peening (SP) as a SPD method conducted on one side of the stir casted FG Al composite having 10 wt% SiCP constant reinforcement in order to create NC structured surface. The SP treatment continued for 70 s and 140 s durations. Thereafter, the surface characteristics of the composite before and after SP were estimated by XRD and then the composites were tested by wear and corrosion tests. The results revealed that the SP for 140 s duration favors the induction of hardened layer, higher grain refinement (NC structure) and dislocation density which promotes the occurrence of high surface hardness, thus significantly improving its wear properties. However, higher dislocation density resulted from longer duration shown deterioration to the corrosion resistance. Whereas, the attained degree of NC structure is more pronounced over dislocation density resulted after 70 s SP duration, thereby composite showed excellent corrosion re-sistance. Thus, the composite with 70 s duration possessed excellent corrosion and relatively good wear properties too. 展开更多

The corrosion behavior of stainless steel exposed to a simulated salt lake atmosphere has been investigated by analyzing the evolution of surface morphologies and corrosion products, the initiation and development of pits, and the electrochemical characteristics. The results indicated that(Mg6Fe2(OH)16(CO3)(H2O)4.5)0.25, a layered double hydroxide, has been detected for the first time in the corrosion products formed on stainless steel exposed to a simulated salt lake atmosphere. The specimens exposed to MgCl2 deposit conditions were corroded more severely than those exposed to NaCl deposit conditions, which was attributed to the differences in the deliquescence relative humidity and efflorescence relative humidity values of MgCl2 and NaCl. In addition, a special corrosion morphology consisting of a concentric circle of yellowish material was observed on the specimens exposed to MgCl2 deposit conditions, which was attributed to the formation of Mg(OH)2, inhibiting the diffusion and migration of OH- ions to the anode region. The maximum pit depth followed a power function with respect to corrosion time. The corrosion mechanism of stainless steel exposed to a simulated salt lake atmosphere is also discussed. 展开更多

Iron corrosion in acidic media is a natural phenomenon that converts elemental iron to a more chemically-stable form,i.e.its oxide and hydroxide.In this study,the iron corrosion process is modeled as a completely implicit problem,solved by a novel finite difference model to provide insight into the ionic aspects of corrosion behavior.This new mathematical model eliminates the chemical potential parameters from the corrosion process equations,thereby reducing the need for experimental determination of chemical potentials.The eliminatedchemical-potential-parameters model predicts and quantifies key parameters(concentrations of conjugate base ion,iron(Ⅱ)ion,hydrogen ion,anodic and cathodic potentials,and the electrical current density)associated with the iron corrosion process in acidic solutions.The rigorous derivation and novel application of the eliminated-chemical-potential-parameters model and its results provide new insights into the iron corrosion process.The present model is also applicable in any industrial process which is associated with metal corrosion.The model helps to guide the design of future corrosion resistant systems,and various experimental studies pertaining to corrosion inhibition techniques. 展开更多

采用电化学技术(动电位极化曲线、自腐蚀电位、EIS以及Mott-Schottky曲线)和表面分析方法(SEM、XPS)研究了羟基亚乙基二膦酸(HEDP)对空冷20SiMn低合金钢在含Cl^-的高碱性混凝土模拟孔隙液中的缓蚀作用及机理。结果表明,HEDP对20SiMn钢在... 采用电化学技术(动电位极化曲线、自腐蚀电位、EIS以及Mott-Schottky曲线)和表面分析方法(SEM、XPS)研究了羟基亚乙基二膦酸(HEDP)对空冷20SiMn低合金钢在含Cl^-的高碱性混凝土模拟孔隙液中的缓蚀作用及机理。结果表明,HEDP对20SiMn钢在含1 mol/L NaCl饱和Ca(OH)2溶液中的缓蚀效果随HEDP浓度的升高存在极值,最佳浓度为1.441×10^-4mol/L。在此浓度下HEDP将20SiMn钢的钝性保持时间从6 h延长至9 h,缓蚀效率达到46.45%~59.78%。在发生点蚀的情况下,HEDP对点蚀的发展亦有显著的抑制作用,缓蚀效率超过93%。电化学和表面分析结果表明,HEDP优先吸附在钝化膜表面,通过竞争吸附机制屏蔽了侵蚀性Cl^-向钝化膜表面的附着,从而对其产生保护作用。 展开更多

钢筋与混凝土之间能够协同工作的主要原因之一是两者间具有良好的粘结性能,但钢筋混凝土结构在服役过程中,侵蚀性介质会进入混凝土中引起钢筋的锈蚀,造成钢混构件粘结性能退化,进而影响混凝土结构的承载能力及服役寿命。因此,通过试验... 钢筋与混凝土之间能够协同工作的主要原因之一是两者间具有良好的粘结性能,但钢筋混凝土结构在服役过程中,侵蚀性介质会进入混凝土中引起钢筋的锈蚀,造成钢混构件粘结性能退化,进而影响混凝土结构的承载能力及服役寿命。因此,通过试验角度科学地认识钢筋锈蚀作用下钢筋混凝土之间粘结性能的变化规律,对于钢混结构的先期设计及服役期间构件的寿命预测都有着极其重要的意义。对于锈蚀钢筋与混凝土之间的粘结性能研究主要采用试验的方式,如梁式试验、中心拉拔试验及偏心拉拔试验等,通过相关的试验手段,对锈蚀钢筋混凝土构件的粘结特性(主要包括粘结强度、粘结刚度、粘结滑移量和粘结力的分布)等进行了探究,并分析了影响锈蚀钢筋混凝土构件粘结性能的因素,主要包括箍筋、混凝土特性、钢筋特性、裂缝宽度、电加速腐蚀电流密度、腐蚀形态等,并在相关试验数据的基础上建立了钢筋混凝土的粘结滑移本构关系及锈蚀率与粘结强度的关系模型。国内外仅对锈蚀作用(不考虑外荷载作用)下的钢混构件的粘结性能开展了较为系统的研究,并取得了一定的成果。研究表明,在锈蚀率较低时钢筋混凝土构件的粘结性能有所提高,但是随着锈蚀率的继续增大,粘结强度会迅速衰减。实际工程中的钢混结构,如高铁轨道梁(杂散电流与高铁荷载)、跨海大桥(环境腐蚀与车载)等,不仅受到腐蚀的威胁,还受到外载荷等其他因素的影响。但目前对腐蚀因素与外荷载(如疲劳荷载等)作用下钢混构件的粘结性能的研究相对较少。外载荷势必会对钢混构件的粘结性能造成影响,加速粘结强度的衰减,但由于影响粘结性能的因素较多、试验操作困难等,仍然需要对钢混构件的粘结性能进行深入的研究,以推动混凝土耐久性的进一步发展。本文总结了国内外研� 展开更多

For NiTiCu SMA, the Ni atoms are substituted by Cu atoms, which not only greatly reduce the alloy cost, but also have excellent shape memory effect. Four kinds of shape memory alloy films (Ni49.6Ti50.4, Ni48.2Ti50.4Cu1.4, Ni45.6Ti50.4Cu4, Ni42.7Ti50.4Cu6.9) were prepared using magnetron sputtering. Corrosion behaviors of the four films in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) solutions at 37&#176;C were examined using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) method. It was found that the corrosion resistance of the NiTi film is superior to the three NiTiCu films. The EIS data were fitted using a parallel resistance-capacitance (as a constant phase element) circuit associated with the surface oxide film. The thickness of the surface oxide layer of the three NiTiCu films increases with applied potential till 0.8 V, while that of the NiTi film can reach to 1.2 V. 展开更多

The analysis of the effectiveness and efficiency of Vernomia amydalina (VA) solution as an inhibitor on offshore pipeline and Ship materials (Steel) was carried out with the preparation of the specimen and the VA solution. The specimens were kept in a workable state and the VA Solution (inhibitor) prepared from 1200 g of bitter leaf was plucked, weighed and crushed separately. 600 cl of water was added to each of the crushed leaves. The mixture was put in a filter cloth and squeezed with hand to filter out the active concentration ingredients responsible for corrosion inhibition, which produced a 2 M concentration of VA extract solution. After the experiment was carried out the specimen was air-dried and weighed to determine the corrosion rate and weight loss. This was followed by the determination of the inhibitor efficiency at the different hours and at different percentage/concentration of the VA solution on the specimen. Results were obtained for different hours and at different percentage (0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% and 25% inhibitor)/concentration of the VA solution and graphs plotted. It was observed that at the first week of exposure to corrosive medium there was a substantial reduction in weight of coupons but over the next three weeks there was a gradual decline in weight loss and the corrosion rate reduced evenly. It can be said that the percentage of inhibitor to corrosive medium is insufficient. From the graphs plotted, the inhibitor efficiency is considered high when the concentration of the VA solution is high, which implies a right percentage of inhibitor needs to be administered to obtain good efficiency of the solution. Hence as the weeks go by it was clear that the inhibitor was gradually losing its effectiveness. This means that inhibitors need to be added at regular intervals to sustain the effectiveness of the inhibitor. Copper has long been utilized as a disinfectant for bacteria,but its impact on microbial communities attached to the steel surface in seawater remains unknown.In the present study,3 mooring chain steels of different copper contents are subjected to a 3-month marine field exposure,and the corrosion rate increases in the order of BR5 steel(without copper)<BR5 CuH steel(0.8%copper)<BR5 CuL steel(0.4%copper).The microbial community results show that copper introduction does not result in an obvious change in microbial quantity,but it alters the diversity,richness,and structure of microbial communities due to the variation in copper-resistance of different species.BR5 CuH steel holds microbial communities with the highest percentage of some well-known corrosive microbes including sulfate-reducing bacteria,sulfuroxidizing bacteria,and iron-oxidizing bacteria,but possesses the lowest community diversity/richness owing to the toxicity of copper.The microbial community diversity/richness is stimulated by the low-copper content of BR5 CuL steel,and this steel also carries an intermediate proportion of such corrosive bacteria.Both well-known corrosive bacteria and microbial community diversity/richness seem to be involved in the corrosion acceleration of copper-bearing mooring chain steels. 展开更多
