Some controversy surrounds the postoperative feeding regimen utilized in patients who undergo esophagectomy.Variation in practices during the perioperative period exists including the type of nutrition started,the delivery route,and its timing.Adequate nutrition is essential for this patient population as these patients often present with weight loss and have altered eating patterns after surgery,which can affect their ability to regain or maintain weight.Methods of feeding after an esophagectomy include total parenteral nutrition,nasoduodenal/nasojejunal tube feeding,jejunostomy tube feeding,and oral feeding.Recent evidence suggests that early oral feeding is associated with shorter LOS,faster return of bowel function,and improved quality of life.Enhanced recovery pathways after surgery pathways after esophagectomy with a component of early oral feeding also seem to be safe,feasible,and cost-effective,albeit with limited data.However,data on anastomotic leaks is mixed,and some studies suggest that the incidence of leaks may be higher with early oral feeding.This risk of anastomotic leak with early feeding may be heavily modulated by surgical approach.No definitive data is currently available to definitively answer this question,and further studies should look at how these early feeding regimens vary by surgical technique.This review aims to discuss the existing literature on the optimal route and timing of feeding after esophagectomy. 展开更多

Comparative study of polyhydroxyalkanoates production from acidified and anaerobically treated brewery wastewater using enriched mixed microbial culture

The production of polyhydroxyalkanoates(PHA) from wastewaters using microbial mixed cultures(MMC) has been attracting increased interest because of PHA’s biodegradability characteristics. Production of PHA by an MMC enriched with PHA-accumulating bacteria was compared using anaerobically treated and acidified brewery wastewaters under various feeding strategies, namely pulse and batch feed addition. To obtain an enriched MMC, a sequencing batch reactor was inoculated with activated sludge fed with acetate and subjected to aerobic dynamic feeding. The enriched MMC was able to accumulate PHA up to 72.6% of cell dry weight(CDW) with pulse addition of acetate controlled by the dissolved oxygen(DO) concentration in the reactor. In a batch accumulation experiment with acetate,the PHA content achieved(28.5% CDW) was less than that of the pulse feeding strategy with the same amount of acetate(~2000 mg C/L). Using anaerobically treated and acidified brewery wastewater fed in pulses, the maximum PHA accumulated by the enriched MMC was similar for both wastewaters(45% CDW), in spite of the higher volatile fatty acid concentration in acidified brewery wastewater. The pulse feed addition controlled by the DO concentration was difficult to implement for wastewater as compared to acetate because the difference in DO concentration between substrate availability and depletion was low. For the batch addition of acidified wastewater, a slightly lower PHA content(39%CDW) was obtained. These results show that both brewery wastewaters can be utilized for PHA production with a similar maximum PHA storage capacity. 展开更多

Selective eating among toddlers is a well-known phenomenon which is characterized by varied factors including nutritional deficits and a unique and challenging sensory profile.Our clinical experience in a multidisciplinary feeding and eating clinic,in Hadassah Medical Center of Jerusalem binds specific feeding and eating patterns with high levels of parental stress ll.Parental stress is combined by three domains:parental general approach of satisfaction,the quality of interaction with child and child’s temperament,as perceived by parent.Our cross-sectional research includes 42 pairs of parents and their children,referring the clinic due to selective eating and suspected sensory integration disorder.Our study includes a broad nutritional assessment,questionnaires testing parental stress(PSI-4)and questionnaires testing sensory integration(Toddler Sensory Profile-2)and anthropometric indices.Our study’s results are relevant family physicians and pediatricians working in the community,who address diagnosis like autistic spectrum disorder,attention deficit hyperactive disorder,developmental delay,and learning disabilities that interface with domains of parental stress and experience of parenting interaction and child temperament,as well as sensory integration and limited eating and nutrition.Research results are significant in the field of locating babies and families needing early intervention and as a base of promoting intervention programs of prevention and treatment of toddlers and their parents.It is important to apply suitable intervention programs based on a reflective manner about dyadic and triadic eating and feeding relations,in the family unit,considering the cultural context. 展开更多

为探究不同饲喂方式对哺乳母猪采食量、体况和生产性能的影响,满足哺乳母猪获得最大采食量并达到精准饲喂控制等需求,该文以哺乳母猪为试验对象,比较不同饲喂方式对哺乳母猪采食量、体况和生产性能的影响。试验共选用40只1胎母猪,随机分... 为探究不同饲喂方式对哺乳母猪采食量、体况和生产性能的影响,满足哺乳母猪获得最大采食量并达到精准饲喂控制等需求,该文以哺乳母猪为试验对象,比较不同饲喂方式对哺乳母猪采食量、体况和生产性能的影响。试验共选用40只1胎母猪,随机分为3组:试验1组采用智能饲喂器饲喂(6次/d)、试验2组采用人工饲喂(6次/d)、对照组采用人工饲喂(3次/d)。结果表明,在试验环境条件下,哺乳8~21 d、人工饲喂3次/d的采食量(6.46 kg)显著高于智能饲喂6次/d(5.22 kg)(P<0.05),2种饲喂方式在母猪的体质量变化、背膘变化、总产仔数、断奶后发情天数、仔猪日增体质量和用水量方面均无显著性差异(P>0.05);哺乳母猪在采食过多时可能引起厌食进而降低后期的采食量,应按照饲喂参数逐步增加饲喂量饲喂;在现有设备投资和工资水平下,智能饲喂器正常使用4.5 a可取代1名优秀饲养员。研究结果可为今后智能化饲喂替代有经验人工饲喂、根据饲养条件选择饲喂方式提供参考。 展开更多

Prevention of necrotizing enterocolitis in premature infants – an updated review 预览

Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is among the most common and devastating diseases encountered in premature infants, yet the true etiology continues to be poorly understood despite decades of research. Recently, gut bacterial dysbiosis has been proposed as a risk factor for the development of NEC. Based on this theory, several best clinical practices designed to reduce the risk of NEC have been proposed and/or implemented. This review summarizes the results of recent clinical trials and meta-analyses that support some of the existing clinical practices for reducing the risk of NEC in premature infants. It is evident that human milk feeding can reduce the incidence of NEC. While most of the studies demonstrated that probiotic supplementation can significantly reduce the incidence of NEC in premature infants, there are still some concerns regarding the quality, safety, optimal dosage, and treatment duration of probiotic preparations. Antibiotic prophylaxis does not reduce the incidence of NEC, and prolonged initial empirical use of antibiotics might in fact increase the risk of NEC for high-risk premature infants. Lastly, standardized feeding protocols are strongly recommended, both for prevention of postnatal growth restriction and NEC. 展开更多

Heavy metals, including cadmium (Cd), are widespread pollutants of great environmental concern because of their ac- cumulation and toxicity. Environmental conditions can affect the accumulation and elimination of Cd in organisms. The aim of this study is to understand the respective responses of metallothioneins (MTs), P-glycoprotein (P-gp), and heat shock protein 70 (hsp70) genes in the mantle and digestive gland of the oyster Crassostrea gigas exposed to 10 g L 1 Cd for 28 days, followed by a depura- tion period of 35 days under different feeding strategies. The MT expression in the digestive gland was higher than in mantle, and was induced in a fluctuating pattern throughout the time of the whole experiment when the oyster was exposed to Cd. The results indicated an enhanced MT activity is required for Cd detoxification. Expression levels of P-gp in the mantle of Cd-exposed oysters fed with algae increased in the first two weeks of the accumulation phase. Then the induction weakened, but the expression still in- creased significantly compared with the control group fed without algae. The P-gp levels in the digestive gland were under-regulated during both the contamination and decontamination periods except in the group fed with Dicrateria inornata at day 0.083. The in- duction of P-gp is possibly related to the important role of pumping Cd out of the cell, while a major implication of P-gp expression inhibition would be a disruption of the protein synthesis. Hsp70 expression exhibited an overall decreasing trend. The highest relative hsp70 inhibition occurred during day 42 to day 63, with approximately 4-fold and 10-fold lower hsp70 levels as compared to the C.gigas feeding with no algae in the mantle and digestive gland, respectively. The induction of hsp70 may be explained by the re- folding of protein in presence of Cd, followed by the inhibition of hsp70 when the protein synthesis was disrupted. 展开更多

在室内以翡翠贻贝(Perna viridis)为对象,研究单种抑食金球藻(Aureocuccos anophagefferens)及其与亚心形四爿藻(Tetraselmis subcordiformis)混合藻液条件下抑食金球藻对贻贝的生长和摄食的影响。结果表明,抑食金球藻对翡翠贻贝的生长... 在室内以翡翠贻贝(Perna viridis)为对象,研究单种抑食金球藻(Aureocuccos anophagefferens)及其与亚心形四爿藻(Tetraselmis subcordiformis)混合藻液条件下抑食金球藻对贻贝的生长和摄食的影响。结果表明,抑食金球藻对翡翠贻贝的生长和摄食均有显著的负面影响。单种高、中浓度抑食金球藻组贻贝的鲜重、干重及无灰分干重均显著低于混合藻组,贻贝的个体生长条件指数(CI)下降明显,其下降率甚至高于饥饿组。混合藻组中贻贝的CI、软组织的鲜重、干重、无灰分干重等均显著低于对照组,其抑制程度与混合藻组中抑食金球藻浓度有关,当混合藻组中抑食金球藻浓度较大时(≥4×105 cells/mL),贻贝的上述指标更低。四组混合藻中贻贝的摄食率也均显著低于对照组,抑食金球藻对贻贝的抑食作用也与其藻细胞密度有关,混有较高密度抑食金球藻组中贻贝的摄食率更低,说明抑食金球藻并非因其个体太小而不能被贝类正常摄食,可能产生了某种生物活性物质抑制了贻贝的摄食和生长,亚心形四爿藻能在一定程度上可以缓解抑食金球藻对贝类摄食和生长的抑制作用。 展开更多

为了解回交对鳜(Siniperca chuatsi)后代表型和生长性状的影响,采用斑鳜♀×杂交鳜(斑鳜♀×鳜♂)♂方式获得回交子代,比较其与斑鳜、杂交鳜在早期阶段(出膜至45日龄)形态(体斑和体型)、生长与摄食特征。结果显示:45日龄,回交... 为了解回交对鳜(Siniperca chuatsi)后代表型和生长性状的影响,采用斑鳜♀×杂交鳜(斑鳜♀×鳜♂)♂方式获得回交子代,比较其与斑鳜、杂交鳜在早期阶段(出膜至45日龄)形态(体斑和体型)、生长与摄食特征。结果显示:45日龄,回交子代体侧斑纹呈规则分布,线状排列,与斑鳜相似,而杂交鳜斑纹稀疏,杂乱排列。回交子代、斑鳜和杂交鳜头部隆角分别为25.48°±0.85°、24.52°±0.65°、29.44°±1.34°,体高/体长值分别为0.26±0.03、0.25±0.09、0.32±0.05,回交子代体型偏向斑鳜。出膜后45日龄,回交子代、斑鳜和杂交鳜平均全长分别为(78.52±1.55)、(55.51±0.71)、(83.81±1.22)mm;日均摄食量分别为(0.217±0.02)、(0.153±0.01)、(0.220±0.04)g,饵料系数分别为2.99±0.16、4.40±0.22、2.76±0.13,回交子代与杂交鳜饵料系数显著低于斑鳜。结果表明,该回交子代形态上偏向斑鳜,生长、日均摄食量和饵料系数偏杂交鳜,可为鳜杂交育种研究提供资料。 展开更多

A systemic strategy was proposed to improve aerobic granular sludge(AGS)stability and nitrogen(N)removal efficiency by optimizing feeding mode and substrate aiming at complicated wastewater characteristics.Key functional groups at the genus level identified by high-throughput sequencing were evaluated as well.The results showed that anaerobic feeding mode and acetate promoted the compact AGS formation with excellent total nitrogen(TN)removal efficiency(averaging 91.7%±4.1%)at various dissolved oxygen conditions.While the aerobic feeding mode led to a loose AGS structure with a vulnerable anaerobic core and poor TN removal efficiency(averaging58.8%±7.4%).Simultaneous nitrification and denitrification process played the dominant role in N removal in compact AGS over the alternating nitrification and denitrification process.High-concentration glucose undermined feast-famine condition with filamentous bacteria growth out of granule and decreased TN removal efficiency to 67.3%±15.2%.Lower food to microorganism ratio may result in a lower N removal rate attributed to the sharply increased biomass concentration fed by glucose.Ammonia-oxidizing bacteria,nitrite-oxidizing bacteria,denitrifying bacteria,and denitrifying phosphorus accumulation organisms enriched during AGS granulation also contributed to the efficient N removal.The proposed strategy provided insights into the relationship between various factors and stable AGS formation,and systemic operation methods for various complicated wastewater treatment. 展开更多

The automatic forming device of the cladding layer of the solid rocket engine is a kind of equipment that can automatically complete the coating process of the coating layer.It is mainly composed of the feeding system,the detection system and the automatic control system.The feeding system plays the role of providing the slurry in the coating process.In order to ensure the uniformity and stability of the feeding device,the automatic forming and feeding system of the coating is studied in this paper.The dynamic analysis of the slurry transportation process in the automatic coating system is carried out.In this paper,the feed cylinder is designed in theory.The feeding mode of the servo electric cylinder is adopted.Through the analysis of the hydrodynamic equations,the mixture model is chosen as the basis for the numerical simulation analysis.We use the SolidWorks software to create the geometric model of the feed cylinder.The dynamic analysis of the feed cylinder is carried out by Fluent software,and the convergent residual diagram and the fluid cloud chart are obtained.Fluent software is used for simulation analysis.The simulation results show that the distribution device has stable flow velocity and uniform slurry flow in the feeding process.The effect of scraping and coating process can be guaranteed by the feeding device,which provides a theoretical basis for actual production. 展开更多
