The deletion of the C-terminal arginine of the anaphylatoxin protein C5a reduces it receptor binding affinity.Understanding how C-terminal arginine affects the structure and bioactivity of C5a is important for the development of C5a C-terminal mimics as drug candidates.Herein,we report the total chemical synthesis of rat C5a and its D-enantiomer with its C-terminal arginine deleted,namely L-rC5a-desArg and D-rC5a-desArg.The structure of rC5a-desArg was then determined by racemic crystallography for the first time.The C-terminal residues of rC5a-Arg were found to expand from the fourth helix in a continuous helical confo rmation.This C-terminal conformation is significantly different from that of the previously reported full-length of C5a,indicating that the deletion of C-terminal arginine residue could result in the destruction of a positively charged surface formed by two adjacent Arg residues in C5a. 展开更多

In addition, physical, chemical, and medicinal properties have been evaluated. The presence of fluorinated atoms often improves these properties with an increasing electronegativity. TNFR1-associated death domain protein(TRADD)with arginine N-GlcNAcylation is a novel and structurally unique posttranslational modification(PTM)glycoprotein that blocks the formation of death-inducing signaling complex(DISC),orchestrating host nuclear factorκB(NF-κB)signaling in entero-pathogenic Escherichia coli(EPEC)-infected cells.This particular glycosylated modification plays an extremely vital role for the effective colonization and pathogenesis of pathogens in the gut.Herein we describe the total synthesis of TRADD death domain(residues 195-312)with arginine235 NGlcNAcylation(Arg-GIcNAc TRADD(195-312)).Two longish peptidyl fragments of the wild-type primary sequence were obtained by robust,microwave-assisted,highly efficient,solid-phase peptide synthesis(SPPS),the N-GlcNAcylated sector was built by total synthesis and attached specifically to resinbound peptide with an unprotected ornithine residue via silver-promoted on-resin guanidinylation,ArgGlcNAc TRADD(195-312)was constructed by hydrazide-based native chemical ligation(NCL).The facile synthetic strategy is expected to be generally applicable for the rapid synthesis of other proteins with Arg-GIcNAc modification and to pave the way for the related chemically biological study. 展开更多

As an important zeolite material,MFI zeolites,as well as their controllable synthesis,are of great interest in both basic and applied science.Among the developed synthetic approaches,the seed-induced method has gradually evolved into a facile,low-cost,and even green alternative to give zeolites the desirable physicochemical properties.In this review,we briefly summarize the development of seed-induced syntheses of diverse functional MFI zeolites,where the“living”seed crystals not only direct the formation of zeolitic framework but also function as special“templates”or“units”to fine-tune the zeolite materials with diverse sizes,shapes,compositions,morphologies and pore structures.Moreover,on the basis of their structural features and crystallization behaviors in seed-induced synthesis,we reveal the roles of seeds and discuss the related crystallization mechanisms including both classical and non-classical pathways.We also want to guide readers to investigate the structure-performance relationships between these functional MFI zeolite catalysts and suitable catalytic reactions. 展开更多

A novel energetic ionic salt,hydroxylammonium potassium 3,3?-dinitro-5,5?-bis-1,2,4-triazole-1,1?-diolate dihydrate[(NH3OH)2K(DNOBT)1.5?2H2O],was synthesized and structurally characterized by elemental analysis,IR spectra,13C NMR and single-crystal X-ray diffraction.(NH3OH)2K(DNOBT)1.5?2H2O crystallizes in triclinic system,space group P with a=7.9212(6),b=9.1924(7),c=14.2549(15)?,a=103.917(2)°,β=99.736(2)°,g=104.8110(10)°,V=944.16(14)?^3,Z=2,Dc=1.855 g/cm^3,F(000)=538,μ=0.386 mm^-1,S=1.070,the final R=0.0525 and wR(I>2s(I))=0.1593.Thermal decomposition of(NH3OH)2K(DNOBT)1.5?2H2O and its intermediate potassium 1?-hydroxy-3,3?-dinitro-5,5?-bis-1,2,4-triazole-1-olate monohydrate[K(HDNOBT)?H2O]was studied by using DSC and TG-DTG.It was found that(NH3OH)2K(DNOBT)1.5?2H2O,which has primarily one exothermic decomposition process at 248.2℃,has better thermal stability than K(HDNOBT)?H2O which is decomposed at 210.9℃. 展开更多

This study represents a well-dispersed gold nanoparticles(AuNPs)synthesis process via cellulose nanocrystals(CNC)which acts as both reducing and supporting agent.The synthesis process was ultrafast and completed in a few seconds using microwave irradiation.The entire synthesis process was cost-effective,sustainable and eco-friendly.The synthesized(AuNPs/CNC)nanocomposite was investigated by transmission electron microscopy,selected area electron diffraction,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,energy dispersive X-ray analysis,X-ray diffraction,and UV–vis spectroscopy.The obtained AuNPs were well accumulated on the CNC surface and had a uniform spherical shape with an average diameter of 8±5.3 nm.The diameter of AuNPs could be altered by tuning the concentration of CNC suspension.The synthesized AuNPs/CNC nanocomposite film exhibited excellent degradation properties against various organic dyes,namely,Allura red,Congo red,Rhodamine B and Amaranth.The ultrafast degradation reactions followed pseudo first order kinetics.In the catalytic degradation reaction,AuNPs/CNC was transmitting electrons from a donor(NaBH4)to an acceptor(a dye). 展开更多

Magnesium alloy(MgA)has been extensively used as orthopedic and cardiovascular scaffolds in virtue of its good biocompatibility,unique biodegradability and excellent mechanical properties.However,poor corrosion resistance and easy infection after implantation seriously limit the potential applications of MgA in the biomedical field.Herein,we fabricated bilayered nanoarrays of hydroxyapatite nanorods(HANRs)and ZnO nanorods(ZnONRs)onto the surface of MgA(MgA-MgO-HANRs-ZnONRs)via micro-arc oxidation(MAO)treatment,microwave-assisted hydrothermal and hydrothermal methods.The morphology and chemical composition of MgA-MgO-HANRs-ZnONRs was characterized by FE-SEM,XRD and EDS,indicating that HANRs-ZnONRs bilayered nanoarrays were fabricated on the surface of MgA-MgO.The surface of MgA-MgO-HANRs-ZnONRs exhibited excellent hydrophilicity as evidenced by the low water contact angle of 3°.Compared with the original MgA,the corrosion resistance of MgA-MgO-HANRs-ZnONRs was obviously improved with decreasing the corrosive current density(icorr)of 2 orders of magnitude.The MgA-MgO-HANRs-ZnONRs performed excellent antibacterial properties with the bactericidal rate of 96.5%against S.aureus and 94.3%against E.coli. 展开更多

The defective CNTs-D supported Ba–Ru/CNTs-D catalysts exhibit superior catalytic performance in ammonia synthesis with a TOF be increased up to 0.30 s-1, which is 2.5 times of oxidized CNTs-O supported Ba–Ru/CNTs-O catalysts and 5 times of the Ba–Ru/CNTs. The characterizations by CO chemisorption, transmission electron microscope, Raman, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy revealed that the uniformly well dispersed Ru NPs can be stabilized on the defective sites of CNTs-D. The great improvement of the catalytic performance and stability of the Ba–Ru/CNTs-D is contributed to the strong interaction between Ru NPs and surface defect of the CNTs. 展开更多
