Pillar[n]arenes are a new kind of supramolecular macrocyclic hosts which have developed rapidly due to their unique topology and high functionality, giving rise to many applications in the construction of interesting and functional materials. Among them, water-soluble pillar[n]arenes bearing triethylene oxide (TEO) chains have drawn increasing research interest due to their advantageous properties. In this review, we summarized the recent progress of dynamic materials fabricated from water soluble pillar[n]arenes bearing TEO groups, including thermo responsive materials with lower critical solution temperature (LCST) behavior, cyclic host liquids, and smart windows. It is anticipated that more and more ‘smart’ supramolecular materials based on modified pillar[n]arenes will be developed in this burgeoning area of research. 展开更多

The trigger voltage i... A novel NMOS triggered LIGBT(NTLIGBT) structure is proposed for electrostatic discharge(ESD) protection in this paper. The structure utilizes internal NMOS to trigger SCR-like structure in LIGBT. The trigger voltage is significantly reduced because the embedded NMOS causes N+-drain/P-body junction being apt to avalanche breakdown. At the same time, the new parasitic PNP transistor including the newly added P+-region as a collector forms another path to bleed ESD current and then the conductivity modulation in the LIGBT is weakened. As a result, the holding voltage is increased. So, the proposed NTLIGBT structure has a narrow ESD design window. The simulation results show an improvement of 71.5% in trigger voltage and over 50% in holding voltage comparing with the conventional LIGBT structure. 展开更多

金刚石上不同晶体结构Y2O3膜性质与增透性能研究 预览

目的研究不同晶体结构Y2O3薄膜的性质及其对金刚石增透性能的影响规律。方法采用反应磁控溅射的方法,通过控制氧氩比,在金刚石膜上制备立方与单斜两种不同晶体结构的Y2O3薄膜,随后系统研究两种Y2O3薄膜的性质与增透性能。结果在低氧氩... 目的研究不同晶体结构Y2O3薄膜的性质及其对金刚石增透性能的影响规律。方法采用反应磁控溅射的方法,通过控制氧氩比,在金刚石膜上制备立方与单斜两种不同晶体结构的Y2O3薄膜,随后系统研究两种Y2O3薄膜的性质与增透性能。结果在低氧氩比下获得了立方结构Y2O3薄膜,在高氧氩比下获得了单斜结构Y2O3薄膜,二者表面粗糙度分别为2.57、1.07nm。两种晶体结构均呈现出符合Y2O3原子配比的价态。立方和单斜结构的Y2O3薄膜硬度分别为17.4、12.6GPa;弹性模量分别为248.1、214.6GPa。双面镀制立方结构Y2O3薄膜后,金刚石膜在10.0μm透过率最大,达89.1%,增透24.5%;单斜结构Y2O3薄膜在7.4μm透过率最大,达90.4%,增透25.4%。结论通过控制氧氩比可以获得热力学稳定的立方Y2O3薄膜和亚稳态的单斜Y2O3薄膜。立方和单斜结构的Y2O3薄膜中O与Y原子价态均符合其化学计量比。立方结构Y2O3薄膜呈现出更高的硬度与弹性模量。两种结构对金刚石窗口均呈现出良好的增透效果。单斜结构Y2O3薄膜增透效果更佳与其较低的折射率有关,且相比于立方结构Y2O3薄膜,增透最佳值向低波长方向移动。 展开更多

Tumor vascular normalization has been proposed as a therapeutic strategy for malignant neoplasms, which can also interpret the synergistic effect of anti-angiogenesis agents combined with chemotherapy. Apatinib (Apa), a highly selective VEGFR2 inhibitor, attracts much attentions due to its encouraging anticancer activity, especially in the clinical trials of combined treatment. In this study, we investigated whether Apa could promote vascular normalization in tumor in a certain time window. Mice bearing LoVo colon cancer xenograft were orally administrated Apa (150 mg kg^-1 per day) for 5, 7, 10, or 12 days. Apa significantly inhibited tumor growth and decreased the microvessel density. Using multi-photon microscopy and electron microscopy, we found that Apa improved tumor vessel morphology by pruning distorted vessel branches and decreased the gap between endothelial cells after a 7-day treatment. Furthermore, Apa decreased vessel leakage and in creased pericyte coverage on vascular en dothelial cells, suggesting that tumor vessels were more mature and integrated. The intratumoral distribution of adriamycin (ADR) in Apa group was improved from day 7 to 10 without change in plasma drug concen tration. Tumor blood perfusion was also in creased in this window, and the expression of hypoxia induced factor 1a was downregulated, suggesting the effect of Apa on alleviating tumor hypoxic micro-e nvironme nt. In conclusi on, Apa may improve the effective perfusi on of tumor vessels and in crease the intratumoral distribution of ADR in a certain time window via normalizing tumor vessels. This normalization window (7 to 10 days of treatment) may con tribute to develop a regime n of combi ned medication in clinic use of Apa. 展开更多

Using atmospheric transmission measurements from Dome A with a Fourier transform spectrometer, transmission spectra and long-term stabilities have been analyzed at 1.461 THz, 3.393 THz, 5.786 THz and 7.1 THz, which show that important atmospheric windows for terahertz astronomy open for a reasonable length of time in the winter season. With large aperture terahertz telescopes and interferometers at Dome A, high angular resolution terahertz observations are foreseen of atomic fine-structure lines from ionized gas and a water ice feature from protoplanetary disks. 展开更多

Charney’s Model—the Renowned Prototype of Baroclinic Instability—Is Barotropically Unstable As Well 预览

The Charney model is reexamined using a new mathematical tool, the multiscale window transform(MWT), and the MWT-based localized multiscale energetics analysis developed by Liang and Robinson to deal with realistic geophysical fluid flow processes. Traditionally, though this model has been taken as a prototype of baroclinic instability, it actually undergoes a mixed one. While baroclinic instability explains the bottom-trapped feature of the perturbation, the second extreme center in the perturbation field can only be explained by a new barotropic instability when the Charney–Green number γ 1, which takes place throughout the fluid column, and is maximized at a height where its baroclinic counterpart stops functioning.The giving way of the baroclinic instability to a barotropic one at this height corresponds well to the rectification of the tilting found on the maps of perturbation velocity and pressure. Also established in this study is the relative importance of barotropic instability to baroclinic instability in terms of γ. When γ 1, barotropic instability is negligible and hence the system can be viewed as purely baroclinic;when γ 1, however, barotropic and baroclinic instabilities are of the same order;in fact, barotropic instability can be even stronger. The implication of these results has been discussed in linking them to real atmospheric processes. 展开更多

The emerging technique of photoacoustic imaging,especially in the near infra-red(NIR)window,permits high resolution,deep-penetration,clinically reliable sensing.However,few contrast agents are available that can specifically respond to intricate biological environments,and which are biodegradable and biocompatible.Herein,we in troduce a new class of pH-sensitive orga nic photoacoustic con trast age nt that operates in the second NIR window(NIR-II,960-1,700 nm),which is derived from the self-assembled charge-transfer nanocomplex(CTN)by 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine(TMB)and its dication structure(TMB++).The unique NIR-ll-responsive CTN can specifically respond to pH change in the physiological range and allows noninvasive and sensitive visualization of the tumor acidic microenvironment(e.g.at pH5)in mice with higher signal-to-noise ratio.The CTN is biodegradable under physiological conditions(e.g.pH 7.4),which alleviates the biosafety concern of nan oparticle accumulati on in vivo.These results clearly show the pote ntial of the TMB/TMB++-based CTN as a promisi ng pH-activated and biodegradable molecular probe for specific tumor photoacoustic imaging in the NIR-II region. 展开更多

Transmissive metasurfaces have provided an efficient platform to manipulate electromagnetic(EM)waves, but previously adopted multilayer meta-atoms are too thick and/or the design approach fully relies on brute-force simulations without physical understandings. Here, based on coupled-mode theory(CMT) analyses on multilayer meta-atoms of distinct types, it is found that meta-atoms of a specific type only allows the phase coverage over a particular range, thus suitable for polarization-control applications.However, combinations of meta-atoms with distinct types are necessary for building ultra-thin wavefront-control meta-devices requiring 360° phase coverage. Based on these physical understandings,high-efficiency meta-atoms are designed/fabricated, and used to construct three typical meta-devices,including quarter-and half-wave plates and a beam deflector. Our results elucidate the physics underlying the interplay between thicknesses and performances of transmissive metasurfaces, which can guide the realizations of miniaturized transmissive meta-devices in different frequency domains. 展开更多

Here we developed a thera no stic nan oparticle (~24 nm size by dynamic light scatteri ng) p-FE-PTX-FA based on polymeric micelle encapsulating an organic dye (FE) fluorescing in the 1,000-1,700 nm second near-infrared (NIR-Ⅱ) window and an an ti-ca ncer drug paclitaxel. Folic acid (FA) was conjugated to the nan oparticles to afford specific binding to molecular folate receptors on muri ne breast can cer 4T1 tumor cells. In vivo, the nan oparticles accumulated in 4T1 tumor through both passive and active targeting effect. Under an 808 nm laser excitation, fluorescence detection above 1,300 nm afforded a large Stokes shift, allowing targeted molecular imaging tumor with high signal to background ratios, reaching a high tumor to normal tissue signal ratio (T/NT) of (20.0±2.3). Further, 4T1 tumors on mice were completed eradicated by paclitaxel released from p-FE-PTA-FA within 20 days of the first injection. Pharmacokinetics and histology studies indicated p-FE-PTX-FA had no obvious toxic side effects to major organs. This represented the first NIR-Ⅱ theranostic age nt developed. 展开更多

The intrinsic nonlinear multiscale interactions among the mean flow, low frequency variability and mesoscale eddies in the Kuroshio region

Using a new functional analysis tool, multiscale window transform(MWT), and the MWT-based localized multiscale energetics analysis and canonical transfer theory, this study reconstructs the Kuroshio system on three scale windows, namely,the mean flow window, the interannual-scale(low-frequency) window, and the transient eddy window, and investigates the climatological characteristics of the intricate nonlinear interactions among these windows. Significant upscale energy transfer is observed east of Taiwan, where the mean Kuroshio current extracts kinetic energy from both the interannual and eddy windows.It is found that the canonical transfer from the interannual variability is an intrinsic source that drives the eddy activities in this region. The multiscale variabilities of the Kuroshio in the East China Sea(ECS) are mainly controlled by the interaction between the mean flow and the eddies.The mean flow undergoes mixed instabilities(i.e., both barotropic and baroclinic instabilities) in the southern ECS, while it is barotropically stable but baroclinically unstable to the north. The multiscale interactions are found to be most intense south of Japan, where strong mixed instabilities occur;both the canonical transfers from the mean flow and the interannual scale are important mechanisms to fuel the eddies. It is also found that the interannual-scale energy mainly comes from the barotropically unstable jet, rather than the upscale energy transfer from the high frequency eddies. 展开更多

Since the 1970s,non-selective beta-blockers(NSBB)have been used to prevent variceal upper bleeding in advanced cirrhotic patients.However,several recent studies have raised the doubt about the benefit of NSBB in end-stage cirrhotic patients.In fact,they suggested a detrimental effect in these patients that even reduced survival.All of these studies have been assembled to compose the“window therapy hypothesis”,in which NSBB would have traditional indication to be initiated to prevent variceal upper bleeding;however,treatment should be stopped(or not be initiated)in patients with end-stage cirrhosis.NSBB would reduce the cardiac reserve of these patients,worsening systemic perfusion and prognosis.However,it should be emphasized that these studies present important bias issues,and their results also suggested that diuretic treatment may also be behind the effects observed.In this opinion review,we changed the point of view from NSBB to diuretic treatment,based on a physiopathogenic approach of circulatory parameters of cirrhotic patients studied,and based on diuretic effect in blood pressure lowering and in other hypervolemic disease,as heart failure.We suggest a“diuretic window hypothesis”,composed by an open window in hypervolemic phase,an attention window when patient present in a normal plasma volume phase,and a closed window during the plasma hypovolemic phase. 展开更多

Baroclinic wave activity in the North Pacific exhibit peaks in late fall and early spring, and a local minimum in midwinter, when by linear baroclinic instability theory it should attain its maximum. This counterintuitive phenomenon, or"midwinter suppression"(MWM) as called, is investigated with a functional analysis apparatus, multiscale window transform(MWT), and the MWT-based theory of canonical transfer and localized multi-scale energetics analysis, together with a feature tracking technique, using the data from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts ReAnalysis(ERA-40). It is found that the MWM results from a variety of different physical processes, including baroclinic canonical transfer, diabatic effect, energy flux divergence, and frictional dissipation. On one hand, baroclinic canonical transfer and diabatic effect achieve their respective maxima in late fall. More transient available potential energy is produced and then converted to transient kinetic energy, resulting in a stronger storm track in late fall than in midwinter. On the other hand, in early spring, although baroclinic instability and buoyancy conversion are weak, energy flux convergences are substantially strengthened, leading to a net energy inflow into the storm track. Meanwhile, frictional dissipation is greatly reduced in spring;as a result, less transient energy is dissipated in early spring than in midwinter. It is further found that the weakening of baroclinic canonical transfer in midwinter(compared to late fall) is due to the far distance between the storm and the jet stream(located at its southernmost point), which suppresses the interaction between them. Regarding the increase in energy flux convergence in early spring, it appears to originate from the increase(enhancement) in the number(strength) of storms from the upstream into the Pacific. 展开更多

A 50 mA CW deuteron RFQ is being built for a joint 973 project between Peking University and the Institute of Modern Physics.This RFQ adopts a high-frequency window-type structure.To study its RF properties and to validate the reliability of an electromagnetic simulation,two full-length aluminum models with tuners were built in succession.RF measurements were obtained from the test bench and compared to the simulations,including frequencies,quality factors,and electric fields of different modes and the field in aperture.Through field tuning,the maximal field unflatness for a single quadrant and the average asymmetry of four quadrants were reduced from 8.7%and±3.6%to 5.8%and±1.7%,respectively.Moreover,a tuning method of adjusting the gap distance between the endplates and the vanes was also studied in this paper. 展开更多
